There are a handful of operators who execute well-run, highly profitable, all-news operations. None are better than Joel Oxley at WTOP in Washington, D.C. Having had the number one billing radio station for two years running and, with Jim Farley and company, always evolving his product to please the fickle habits of the consumer (not to mention that pesky meter) Oxley could be considered THE expert on the news product right now. We tracked Oxley down Tuesday to ask him about the challenges of launching and operating an all-news station and what went wrong in Chicago. Here's our quick interview with WTOP GM Joel Oxley
