Grand Slam Sports has announced a change in call letters and station slogan for 1380 AM. Previously known as SportsRadio 1380 KSLG, the station has changed its call letters to KXFN and will now be called ?The Fan 2.? Grand Slam Sports conducted a study, led by a Saint Louis University, MBA class that revealed most sports fans associate ?The Fan? with 1380 sister station KFNS.
?We will now have 590 The Fan and 1380 The Fan 2,? said General Manager, Katy Pavelonis. ?This will allow us to cross promote our programming as we continue to be ?The Voice of the St. Louis Sports Fan.? Sports fans have become accustomed to the coverage and entertainment we offer as the heritage sports station with 590 The Fan. 1380 The Fan 2 is simply an extension of our brand.?
Both stations will celebrate the launch on Monday, July 9, with some of the top names in local and national sports including: Dan Dierdorf, Pete Rose, Bill DeWitt III, Kevin Demoff, Tom Stillman, Whitey Herzog and Rick Majerus.
Grand Slam Sports, LLC is a locally owned and operated company, made up of a local investment group, which includes former St. Louis professional athletes Orlando Pace, Keith Tkachuk, and Roland Williams.
