Indy Stations United After Violence Increases

7-9-14

Owners of 19 Indianapolis radio stations plan to unite in the wake of a police officer killed and an outbreak of gun violence in Indianapolis. A rally will be held Saturday night at 9p.m. in support of public safety and law enforcement and a call for unity against violence. The stations are owned by Emmis, Entercom, Clear Channel, Cumulus, Radio One, WTTS (Sarkes Tarzian) and WEDJ (Continental Broadcast Group). Emmis SVP Charlie Morgan said, ?This event shows the power of radio in a local community to reflect listener emotions and lead community dialog.  In my 30+ years in Indianapolis Radio, I have never seen more immediate and universal support for an event than we have seen for Indy United.?
