Following the conviction of former Connecticut Governor John Rowland on campaign fraud charges, CTNOW is reporting that the station, CBS' WTIC-AM, where Rowland last worked, has had its license renewal delayed following a payola complaint. Rowland quit hosting his show back in April when the fraud issues first surfaced. Attorney Ken Krayeske has filed the payola complaint with the FCC, alleging Rowland and WTIC broke the law when Rowland used the radio show to promote a congressional candidate who was secretly paying him. Market Manager Suzanne McDonald is quoted in the paper saying that the license renewal has been delayed but that she has not been given an explanation as to why.
