Cumulus Announces Extension For Lew Dickey

4-28-15

Cumulus Media announced on Tuesday that the employment agreement for co-founder Lew Dickey has been given a multi-year extension. Dickey will continue to serve as President and CEO, as well as a member of the Board of Directors, through 2018. 

Cumulus also announced that long-time director Robert H. ("Trey") Sheridan, III, of Ridgemont Equity Partners, will retire when his term ends at the 2015 annual meeting of stockholders, and that the Board has nominated Mary G. Berner to stand for election to fill the vacancy created on the Board by Sheridan's retirement.  Berner is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Magazine Media. 

Dickey said: "We are fortunate to be adding Mary Berner to our Board, where her insights and experience will be valuable as we continue to position the company for long-term success in the changing media landscape." 

Additionally, Jeffrey Marcus, currently the Cumulus Board Lead Director, has been appointed as non-executive Chairman of the Board of Directors. Marcus is a partner with Crestview Partners, the largest stockholder of Cumulus, where he leads Crestview's media investment strategy. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Cumulus, and its Lead Director, since Crestview's investment in Cumulus in September 2011.

Regarding the renewal of Dickey and his own expanded role, Marcus said: "Our Board is grateful that Lew Dickey, who has built Cumulus into a leading national media business, has renewed his commitment to lead the company into the future. I look forward to continuing to collaborate with Lew to build value for our shareholders."

CRS Announces New Agenda Leadership

4-6-15

iHeartMedia Alabama VP of Programming Tom Hanrahan will chair the Country Radio Seminar's 2015-16 leadership committee, which is responsible for planning the educational component for the annual February event in Nashville. Hanrahan is joined by Cumulus Corporate PD Greg Frey and CMG Houston D.O.S. Judy Lakin, who will be co-vice chairman of the committee.

CRS President Charlie Morgan said, "As we move to our new home in 2016 at the Nashville Omni, we are fortunate and grateful for the leadership of Tom, Greg and Judy guiding the committee of dedicated industry volunteers that create our agenda." Added incoming Chairman Tom Hanrahan: "I am looking forward to working with Greg and Judy and our other committee colleagues to develop a CRS 2016 agenda lineup that includes many of the issues that face the radio and record industries today."

WBAL Announces Programming Promotions

4-3-15

Hearst owned WBAL in Baltimore announced three promotions Thursday including Malarie Pinkard who was promoted to News Director. Pinkard, who started out as a researcher at Hearst, is now responsible for all aspects of all operations and production for the largest newsroom in Maryland. Also, Mike Wellbrock is promoted to Assistant Program Director and Johnny Goldsmith is promoted to Executive Producer.

Townsquare Announces Successful Refinancing

4-1-2015

Townsquare Media announced on Wednesday the closing of an offering of $300 million in aggregate principal amount of its 6.500 percent senior notes due 2023. Townsquare also announced a $325 million senior secured credit facility, including a new seven-year, $275 million term loan. Both were to complete the company's previously announced redemption of the outstanding 9.00 percent senior notes due 2019, in aggregate principal amount of $410.9 million.

Nielsen Announces $650 MIL Debt Offering

Nielsen announced on Friday that its indirect wholly-owned subsidiaries, Nielsen Finance LLC and Nielsen Finance Co., are proposing to issue $650 million aggregate principal amount of 5.00% senior notes due 2022. The company intends to apply the net proceeds of the offering to make repurchases of outstanding common stock. Full press release Here.

CRS Announces New Faces Lineup

12-1-14

The five acts to appear at CRS' New Faces of Country Music are Frankie Ballard, Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae, Eric Paslay, and Cole Swindell. The 2015 New Faces of Country Music Show will be held Feb. 27, 2015 during Country Radio Seminar at the downtown Nashville Convention Center. Dinner tickets for the show are sold out. Seating-only admission is still available. Registrants will receive seating-only admission to the CRS New Faces of Country Music Show on a first-come, first-serve basis until the seating-only area is sold out. The $499 regular registration rate is now available at http://www.countryradioseminar.com/. The on-site registration rate will be announced closer to CRS.

Clear Channel Announces Performers for Awards

The iHeartRadio Music Awards will take place May 1 from the Shrine Auditorium in L.A. Clear Channel has announced the lineup of performers for its inaugural music special which will air live on NBC. Blake Shelton, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Pitbull, Shakira and Thirty Seconds to Mars, Ariana Grande, Luke Bryan, Arcade Fire and Ed Sheeran will all perform. Those set to make appearances include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Imagine Dragons, Chris Martin, Lorde, Demi Lovato and more.

On Wednesday, the NAB announced the 11 radio executives that will serve on the Radio Board for the next two years beginning in June. NABEF Announces Career Day In Vegas

The NAB Education Foundation, in partnership with the Broadcast Education Association, announced the addition of a Military Veteran Resource Center to NAB Show's Career Day, Wednesday, April 9, in Las Vegas, NV. Located in the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino Pavilion, Career Day is an annual event that provides college students, entry-level job seekers, and experienced professionals with the opportunity to interact with media industry recruiters. NAB Show is the world's largest annual conference and expo for professionals who create, manage, and distribute entertainment across all platforms.

This year, NABEF has partnered with representatives from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation's Hiring Our Heroes program, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Quaestor Federal Consulting to offer resources for veterans and employers. Immediately prior to the Career Fair, employers can attend a free session from 9-10:00 a.m. focusing on the business case for hiring military veterans and skill sets veterans possess that can be applied to the broadcast industry. During the Career Fair, the Military Veterans Resource Center booth will provide advice and opportunities for training related to a successful job search as well as information for both recruiters and job seekers.

Job seekers can attend sessions throughout the day on personal brand management, dressing for success, and information on jobs in broadcasting. Career Day will offer the popular one-on-one career coaching sessions that include resume critiques and interview strategies. Recruiters include Beasley Broadcast Group, CNN/Turner Broadcasting, ESPN, Gannett, NEP Broadcasting, PBS Las Vegas, Radionomy, and Univision Radio.

RAB Announces Ron Ruth Celebration

The Radio Advertising Bureau, in conjunction with the Broadcasters Foundation, will host a memorial benefit celebrating the life of Ron Ruth on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at the New York Friars Club at 6 p.m. Guests will celebrate Ron Ruth the way he?d want to be remembered -- over drinks, with great company, and many great stories at the acclaimed and legendary Friars Club. 

Tickets to this event are $250. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Ron Ruth Memorial Fund at the Broadcasters Foundation of America. Tickets are limited. Clear Channel Announces New WOR Lineup

12-8-13

WOR will start the day with the "Elliot In The Morning" Show when the station revamps its format in 2014. The "Elliot in the Morning" show is currently heard on Washington DC's WWDC ­ DC101 ­and Richmond's WRXL. Elliot Segal talks sports, music, culture, news, and entertainment. He will move his show to New York City and continue to be heard on DC101 and WRXL.

"I'm excited to be coming back to New York, to a station with such a legendary history," said Segal. "We have built something very special in Washington, DC, and Richmond, and I'm beyond thrilled that the show will continue airing on DC/101 and XL-102. Now, WOR will be home to 'Elliot In The Morning' and I couldn't be more anxious to get going."

As previously announced, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, will be heard on WOR beginning January 1 in mid-day, with Limbaugh broadcasting from noon to 3 p.m. and Hannity from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Clear Channel Announces Jingle Ball Concerts

This year, 103.5 KISS FM in Chicago will welcome its first ever Jingle Ball concert, while Z100's Jingle Ball in New York will celebrate its 18th annual concert and will feature for the first time as an exclusive nationwide broadcast two hour special on The CW Network Wednesday, December 18 at 8 p.m. EST. The 2013 Jingle Ball concert cities are: in Dallas; Philadelphia; Los Angeles; Seattle; Chicago; Minneapolis; Atlanta; New York; Boston; Washington D.C.; Tampa; and Miami.

This year, Clear Channel is partnering with The Ryan Seacrest Foundation.  $1.00 of each ticket sold will be donated to the non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring today's youth through entertainment and education focused initiatives, for eleven cities of the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2013 Tour, in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta, Minneapolis, New York, Boston, Washington D.C., Tampa and Miami. Jingle Ball in Dallas will work with the Kidd's Kids program of the Kraddick Foundation. Kidd Kraddick, 106.1 KISS FM's morning show personality, founded the Kraddick Foundation, a 501?3 non-profit organization, which is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children with special medical needs in the Dallas community.  This year's 106.1 KISS FM Jingle Ball will donate $1.00 of each ticket sold to the Kraddick Foundation to honor and continue his legacy after his sudden passing this past July.

BMI Announces New Board Members

10-7-13

BMI elected Albert Cheng, Dave Lougee, and Michael O'Neill to its board of directors at the company's annual shareholders meeting Monday in Nashville. O'Neill was recently named CEO of BMI, succeeding BMI's President and CEO Del Bryant, who announced his June 2014 retirement earlier this year. O'Neill will assume the title of president upon Mr. Bryant's retirement. In his capacity as president, Bryant continues on the board until his retirement. Cheng is Executive Vice President and Chief Product Officer, Digital Media, for the Disney/ABC Television Group. Lougee is President of the Broadcasting Division for Gannett.

Board member Paul Karpowicz, President, Meredith Broadcasting Group, CT, was elected Vice Chairman. In addition, current board members Jack Sander, Scottsdale, AZ, and Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW Network, Burbank, CA, were re-elected as members of the board. All newly elected board members will serve terms that expire in 2017.

CRS Announces "Battle Of The Bands" Lineup

For the second year in a row, representatives from labels and other music-affiliated companies have assembled bands to compete in the ?CRS Battle of the Bands? contest which will be held Sept. 26. This year?s bands are comprised of employees from Hard Rock Caf?, Renaissance Hotel, Sony Music Nashville, SunTrust Sports & Entertainment, and Warner Music Group.

CRS Executive Director Bill Mayne said, ?Last year?s event was such a success and we cannot wait to relive the fun once again. To add a little twist to the event, we expanded the lineup to include participants from other companies within the industry and not just labels." Proceeds from the event will go toward the CRS scholarship fund and the Country Radio Hall of Fame. The ?CRS Battle of the Bands? is a private, industry-only event.

Last year?s ?Battle of the Bands? was sold out and raised enough funds to enable the organization to create a new endowment, which will be announced soon. Band names and musicians will also be announced in the coming days. ?CRS Battle of the Bands? is held in conjunction with CRS fall board meetings. Board members are scheduled to be in attendance. Sponsors for the event are Country Aircheck, CMT, Hit Shop Records, Miller Lite, Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau, SunTrust Sports & Entertainment, and William Morris Endeavor.

NAB Education Foundation Announces 2014 Class

9-9-13

The NAB Education Foundation announced the new members of the 2014 Broadcast Leadership Training  program. This year's student roster can be found here. The 10-month, MBA-style program teaches the fundamentals of purchasing, owning, and operating radio and television stations to senior level broadcast executives who aspire to advance as group executives or station owners. To encourage diversity in broadcasting, NABEF offers fellowship opportunities to women and people of color.

Currently, a number of BLT graduates are in varying stages of station acquisition. Of the 220 graduates, 34 currently own or have owned stations, and more than 90 have moved to more senior level positions or to larger markets.

Tesh Announces "Intelligence for Your Life TV"

The new broadcast venture will serve as the video extension of the nationally-syndicated "Intelligence for Your Life" radio program, now reaching 8 million weekly listeners. The new half hour television program, slated to launch June 1, 2013, will connect listeners to experts in various fields and feature short, sharable segments in Tesh's most popular radio categories. The show will be hosted by Tesh, Connie Sellecca and Gib Gerard.

Tesh said, "The greatest differentiating factor in this program is our local strategy," says Tesh. "It's designed for local viewers and advertisers and for the national brands that are interested in a locally-strategic advertising approach. I spent 25 years in the local news world and am naturally very familiar with the needs of the local advertiser. NAB Announces Crystal Award Winners

Ten stations from across the country have been recognized for outstanding community service by the National Association of Broadcasters. Stations from Seattle to Pensacola were recognized. And, of course, winning a Crystal was  Hubbard's WTOP-FM in Washington, DC, a station that needs a separate building to house all its awards. A special Crystal Heritage Award was given to KNOM-AM/FM in Nome, Alaska, for taking home its 5th Crystal. Here are all the winners
