Alpha Media Closes On 4 More

Alpha Media's radio empire continues to grow. On Friday, the Portland-based company closed on four radio stations in Texas: KLLL-FM and KONE-FM in Lubbock, KBTE-FM in Tulia, and KMMX-FM in Tahoka. The seller was Wilks Broadcasting and the purchase price was $23 million. Michael Bergner of Bergner & Company served as the exclusive broker to Wilks.

Larry Wilson, chairman of Alpha Media, said: "We are fortunate to be able to follow respected and experienced broadcaster Jeff Wilks and to have the opportunity to build upon the strong foundation he and his great Lubbock team have built with this outstanding radio cluster."

Alpha Media Closes On Purchases Of 7 More

Alpha Media announced Friday that they have closed on the purchases of seven radio stations, three from Coast Radio Company and four from Free Lance-Star Radio. The Coast Radio stations sold are KUIC-FM/Vacaville, CA, KKIQ-FM/Livermore, CA, and KKDV-FM/Walnut Creek, CA.  The Free Lance-Star stations purchased are WFLS-FM and WNTX-AM/Fredericksburg, VA, WVBX-FM/Spotsylvania, VA, and WWUZ-FM in Bowling Green, VA.

Chairman of Alpha Media, Larry Wilson commented on the closures, saying: "We are very fortunate to be able to work with such great employees at all of the stations. Each cluster is exceptional
and brings its own unique attributes to the company, allowing us to build a diverse and dynamic culture."

Media Venture Partners was the broker for Coast Radio Group and George Reed of Media Services Group was the broker for Free Lance-Star Radio.

Alpha Media Closes On Access 1 Stations

Portland-based Alpha Media announced Tuesday that the company closed on the purchase of nine radio stations from Access 1 Communications. The radio stations purchased include five stations located in Shreveport --  KBTT-FM, KOKA-AM, KDKS-FM, KLKL-FM, and KTAL-FM -- and four radio stations in Tyler-Longview -- KKUS-FM, KOOI-FM, KOYE-FM, and KYKX-FM.

Alpha Media Chairman Larry Wilson said of the transaction: "Chesley Maddox-Dorsey is a great person with superb integrity and it's a tremendous honor for us to be buying stations from Access 1. The quality of people I've met and their passion for the industry is impressive; it fits right in our sweet spot for live and local radio."

Upon the successful completion of all pending transactions, Alpha Media will own 96 radio stations and operate two others under LMAs.

Hubbard Closes on 16 Minnesota Stations

Hubbard Broadcasting closed on the sale of 16 Stations (11 FM / 5 AM) and 1 Translator in Four Minnesota Clusters from Omni Broadcasting for the closing price of $8 Million. The Alexandra/MN cluster included: KIKV-FM and KULO-FM. Bemidji/MN cluster: KKZY-FM, KLLZ-FM, WQXJ-FM, KBHP-FM, KBUN-AM and K235BP-FX. Brainerd/MN cluster: KLIZ-FM, WJJY-FM, KBLB-FM, KUAL-FM, KLIZ-AM and KVBR-AM. Wadena-Staples/MN cluster: KKWS-FM, KWAD-AM and KNSP-AM.

Alpha Closes on Buckley Purchase

In an end of the year wrap up, Alpha Media announced they have closed the purchase of KKBB-FM, KLLY-FM, KNZR-AM and KNZR- FM in Bakersfield, California along with KHTN-FM and KUBB-FM in Merced, California from Buckley Broadcasting of California and Buckley Communications.

The acquisition of the stations in Merced and Bakersfield brings the Alpha Media portfolio to a total of eighty-six stations. Commenting on the acquisition, Larry Wilson, Chairman of Alpha Media said, ?We are privileged to buy these stations from such great operators. The Buckley clusters are a great addition to our live and local west coast footprint.?

Curtis Closes Three CPs and a Translator

A purchase price of $190,000 was paid to Wake Forest University as Curtis affiliate Eastern Airwaves picks up W284BN in Greensboro, NC, plus the construction permits for W233BY, W243DH, and W258CL all located in Boone, NC. Bob Heymann of the Chicago office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker for Curtis in the deal.

JVC Closes West Palm Purchases

9-14-14

Eddie Esserman of Media Services Group tells Radio Ink that the deal between JVC and North Palm Beach Broadcasting for WSVU (AM), W240CF, and W295BJ has closed. North Palm Beach Broadcasting was run by Jim Martin and Tricia Woods, and JVC is run by John Caracciolo. Esserman represented North Palm Beach Broadcasting in this deal.

Summit City Sale Closes

6-3-14

Media Venture Partners says the Adams Radio purchase of WNHT (FM), WXKE (FM), WGL (FM), and WGL (AM) in Fort Wayne, from Summit City Radio Group LLC has closed. The deal to purchase the stations was announced back in February. The price for the seven stations to Adams Radio was $6.4 million. WANE.com reports there are several format changes in the works for that market now that the sale is official.

Curtis Closes On Another Translator

Eastern Airwaves, an affiliate of Curtis Media in Raleigh, has closed on the purchase of the CP for FM Translator Station W226BV in Durham from Community Public Radio, a Georgia not-for-profit corporation. The purchase price is $130,000. Bob Heymann of the Chicago office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker representing the buyer in this transaction.

Curtis Closes On Second Charlotte Translator

Curtis Media has been on an FM translator buying spree as of late, and today the company closed on the purchase of FM Translator Station W262BM Charlotte, NC, from Isothermal Community College. In January of 2014, Eastern Airwaves closed on the purchase of the construction permit for W234BY Charlotte. The purchase price is $125,000. Bob Heymann from Media Services Group brokered the transaction.

Indiana FM Translator Sale Closes

Northeast Indiana Public Radio closes on its construction permit for W258BY Fort Wayne to Fort Wayne Cathlolic Radio Group. The sale price was $113,000.00. Bob Heymann from Media Services Group brokered the deal for representing the seller and Jon Yinger of Broadcast Properties was the broker for the buyer.

Backyard Broadcasting Deal Closes

Barry Drake closes his deal with Dan Farr in Pennsylvania. It's Farr's first acquisition, however he's been running the Williamsport cluster of radio stations for Drake and, before Backyard, for Sabre Communications. The deal is the final sale for Drake getting him out of the radio business. KALIL & CO. was the exclusive broker for this transaction. This stations in the deal are: WILQ(FM); WLMY(FM); WWPA(AM); W267BJ, Williamsport; WBZD(FM), Muncie; WZXR(FM), South Williamsport; WCXR(FM), Lewisburg.

L & L Closes on YMF Stations in Jackson

This one was announced back in July. L & L picked up WKXI (FM), WJMI (FM), WJNT (AM), WRKS (FM), WOAD (AM), and WJQS (AM) from YMF in Jackson, MS. Media Venture Partners represented YMF Media, LLC in this transaction. The price of the deal was $13 Million.

Beasley Closes on KVGS-FM in Vegas

Beasley Broadcasting has closed on its acquisition of KVGS-FM in Las Vegas from GGB Las Vegas. In May 2010, Beasley Broadcast entered into an agreement with GGB Las Vegas to provide management services to KVGS-FM and KOAS-FM and at the same time secured an option to purchase both stations. KOAS-FM was acquired by Beasley in 2012. Beasley CEO, George G. Beasley, said "We could not be more pleased to own and operate four FM radio stations and one AM station ? and air five distinctive brands - in this dynamic market. Dial Global Closes On Recapitalization

Dial Global has closed on the recapitalization it announced back on March 4. The refinancing deal includes an amended and restated credit agreement among Dial Global, its lenders, and administrator General Electric Capital. The agreement, which has a maturity date of October 21, 2016, consists of -- after a $15 million paydown -- a $136 million term loan and revolving credit of about $23 million, $18 million of which is drawn.

Dial Global also entered into an agreement for an additional $31.5 million term loan facility with Blackrock Kelso Capital, with a maturity date of July 21, 2017, and issued penny warrants for Blackrock to purchase 7.5 percent of DG's common stock.

American Comedy Network Closes Shop

In a posting to the company Facebook page titled, "A Final Note to Our Valued Customers," GM Joel Graham writes, "Today I feel a great sense of sadness as American Comedy Network closes the doors for good and we post our final DailyPrep. On behalf of the ACN staff - Darryl Knight, Mark Dahl and Mike Hand - I would like to offer you our sincerest gratitude for trusting ACN and making us part of your show. American Comedy Network pioneered the radio comedy prep business in June of 1983 when the service was launched by Andy Goodman, ?The Real? Bob James, Dale ?The Voiceman? Cumulus Closes On WFME In New York City

Earlier this year, Cumulus announced it had agreed to purchase WFME from Family Stations for $40 million. Today the station officially closed and gets rolled into the Cumulus New York City cluster with WABC and WPLJ. Cumulus gave WDVY in Mt. Kisco to Family Stations in the deal. Media Venture Partners, LLC represented Family Stations in this transaction.

CBS Closes on The Former WRXP

12-10-2012

CBS Radio has closed on its purchase of WRXP (101.9) which is now WFAN-FM in New York.  The station features a simulcast of Sports Radio 66 WFAN-AM. CBS purchased the station for $75 million from Merlin Media and began the simulcast under an LMA last month. WFAN-AM celebrated its 25th anniversary this past July.

Tyler Closes On Renda Cluster In OK

Kalil & Company informs Radio Ink that the Tyler Broadcasting deal to purchase Tony Renda's cluster of three FMs and one AM in Oklahoma City has closed. Renda gives up KMGL-FM, KRXO-FM, KOMA-FM, and KOKC-AM. Also part of the deal was a 24.5 percent interest in Sooner Sports Properties, a multimedia rights holder of University of Oklahoma Athletics. Tyler Broadcasting also owns three stations in Oklahoma City including 93.3 KJKE-FM, KTUZ-FM, and KEBC-AM. This deal was announced back in July and the price was $12 million.
