WEEI & Pats Extend Monday, Friday Deal

The New England Patriots and Sports Radio WEEI-FM in Boston announced a three-year extension for the broadcasting rights to Patriots Monday and Patriots Friday. Three-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady will continue his Patriots Monday weekly appearance on the Dennis and Callahan morning show. Coach Bill Belichick will wrap up Patriots Monday with his weekly appearance on the Dale and Holley show. In between, Middays with MFB hosted by Lou Merloni, former Patriots tight-end Christian Fauria, and Tim Benz, will continue to feature Patriots captains and veteran leaders who will be available to discuss the most recent game. The Patriots Friday lineup will include additional Patriots players to preview the upcoming game.

Westwood And Weather Channel Extend Deal

WestwoodOne announced it has signed a multi-year contract extension with The Weather Channel for ad sales representation. The renewal runs through 2016. The Weather Channel provides daily, customized cross-platform weather reports to radio stations, giving up-to-the-minute information on local weather or critical storm warnings.  The Weather Channel also provides weather report information from the field during WestwoodOne's NFL broadcasts and weather information for all upcoming matchups around the league.

ESPNLA And Lakers Extend Through 2020

10-3-13
The two sides have added another seven years onto their radio deal which will carry the relationship through the 2019-2020 NBA season. ESPNLA (710 AM) will carry all 82 regular-season games as well as the entire preseason and every playoff game. ESPNLA has served as the official radio broadcast home of the Lakers for the last four seasons. The regular season begins October 29.
John Ireland will continue as the play-by-play commentator for the Lakers radio broadcasts, with former Laker Mychal Thompson as color analyst. Ireland is co-host of The Mason and Ireland Show which airs on ESPNLA 710 AM weekdays from 12 p.m. ? 3 p.m. PT. Thompson, alongside Mark Willard, co-hosts ESPNLA Now, which airs weekdays from 10 a.m. ? 12 p.m. PT.

?We have enjoyed a terrific association with the Los Angeles Lakers over the past four years and we could not be happier about extending our relationship until 2020,? said Scott McCarthy, ESPNLA General Manager. ?The Lakers are clearly one of the premier organizations in all of sports, and we at ESPNLA are very proud to be their radio home for many years to come.?

SiriusXM And FOX Extend Agreement

The agreement between Fox and SiriusXM has been extended through 2019 and includes FOX News and FOX Business Network, and for the first time includes FOX News Talk which will be streamed on SiriusXM Internet Radio. FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said, "Our viewers love the ability to keep the connection with FOX News Channel, even while they're in the car with SiriusXM. This agreement not only ensures that will continue but expands it to our FOX Business Network viewers and restores the FOX News Talk channel to SiriusXM subscribers on their computers and smart phones. This is good for FOX News, for SiriusXM, and for the people we both work for, the American public."

Devils Extend With WFAN

It's a mult-year agreement that will keep the New Jersey Devils on WFAN in New York (660-AM and 101.9 FM). This is the 9th consecutive year the Devils will be heard on WFAN. Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello said, ?The New Jersey Devils are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with WFAN. Their commitment to sports programming on a 24-hour/year-round basis will provide us with the best possible radio exposure to reach our fans.?

Matt Loughlin enters his eighth season as the team?s play-by-play announcer, while Sherry Ross is in her seventh straight year as color commentator.

SiriusXM And MLB Extend Agreement Six Years

Sirius XM and Major League Baseball have agreed to a six-year extension of their agreement, which will now make MLB game broadcasts available on both Sirius and XM satellite radios, starting today. All MLB games will be available for the first time to subscribers with Sirius radios on either a Premier or All Access package. All MLB games will continue to air on all XM radios. SiriusXM has been brodacsting MLB games since 2005.

"Baseball has been an essential part of our programming lineup and we're very happy to extend our relationship with MLB to deliver the games to our subscribers for many years to come," said Scott Greenstein, SiriusXM's President and Chief Content Officer. "We're especially pleased to now offer the games to SiriusXM subscribers whether they listen through Sirius radios, XM radios, the SiriusXM App, or online."

ESPN Dallas And Mavs Extend Five Years

ESPN Dallas 103.3 FM and the Dallas Mavericks have reached a five-year extension of their radio play-by-play agreement. ESPN Dallas 103.3 debuted in April 2001 and has broadcast Mavs games since that fall; the station and team will now be together through the 2017-18 season. Maverick?s owner Mark Cuban said, ?There is no better radio network for the Dallas Mavericks than ESPN Dallas. They have been our home for 12 seasons and our fans know where to find the Mavs on the radio. We are thrilled to be with ESPN Dallas for many more seasons to come.?  

The new agreement calls for a continuation of the Rick Carlisle show as well as a player show to air on ESPN Dallas 103.3. It will also see the continuation of the annual Mavstoberfest event that allows up to 1,000 ESPN Dallas and Dallas Mavericks winners to a free autograph signing with the entire team, as well as a free open-to-the-public scrimmage. Radio commentators will continue to be Chuck Cooperstein, on play-by-play, alongside veteran color analyst and Dallas Mavericks legend Brad Davis.

ESPN New York And Jets Extend Deal

The Jets and ESPN New York have agreed to a multi-year extension. ESPN New York 98.7 FM will continue to provide complete coverage of every Jets game including pre-game, play-by-play, and post-game programming. The station will also continue its Jets-focused features, including the Jets Player Spotlight, a weekly interview with Jets head coach Rex Ryan, and ?Inside the Jets.? Jets games, including pre- and post-game coverage, are also broadcast in Spanish on ESPN Deportes Nueva York 1050AM, the only 24/7 Spanish sports talk station in New York. Financial details of the deal were not announced.

Compass Media and Learfield Extend Contract

Compass Media Networks and Learfield Sports announced a multiyear extension whereby Compass Media Networks retains first right of refusal to broadcast any Learfield Sports home football and men's basketball  games, retains the exclusive national radio rights to broadcast The Big Ten Football Championship Game and the Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament, and will broadcast expanded coverage of regular season men's basketball and football games.

Learfield Sports is the exclusive broadcast and sports marketing partner to over 50 of the nation's leading colleges and universities including Alabama, , Boise State, Indiana University, Iowa, NC State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Purdue, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, University of North Carolina, Wisconsin and the Big Ten Conference. Compass Media Network CEO Peter Kosann said, "Learfield Sports has been a wonderful partner. We are honored to continue this partnership and will continue to expand the breath and depth of our coverage."

The Yankees Extend Contract With CBS

The New York baseball Yankees have extended their contract with WCBS 880-AM to broadcast their games through the 2012 season, meaning that the announcers John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman will most likely come back in their same roles. ?It is anticipated that radio announcers John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman will each return to the radio booth,? the Yankees said in an e-mail Friday.

The Yankees retain the option to extend the agreement for another year after 2012, but the sides plan to enter into discussions to extend the terms of the deal even longer. Sterling has broadcast every Yankee game since 1989. Waldman joined him in the booth in 2005.

Emmis to Extend Big Brands With Jelli

Emmis has announced a partnership with Jelli to offer five online radio stations to fans that connect with Facebook's new music platform. Today at f8, Facebook's developer conference, Jelli announced that it has integrated with Facebook to make listening more social. Jelli will take some of Emmis most well known brands and extend them online. HOT 97 in New York, POWER 106 in LA and RXP will be branded and launched via the Facebook Platform and listeners will have 100% control of the music played.

With the announcement of Facebook's new music launch, HOT 97, Power 106 and RXP will now host five customized stations where listeners will have 100% control of what is played and when it is played. Stations include Hot97, Hot97 Throwback, Hot97 Funk Master Flex, Power 106 and RXP.   "This gives our listeners non-stop new music and it gives Emmis back-end metrics to see which songs are really resonating," said Jimmy Steal, Emmis Vice President of Programming.

With Jelli, every song is chosen by a group of listeners in real time.  The social functionality brings listeners together in a fun social atmosphere. Users can chat with other listeners, vote for what they want to hear and "rocket" their favorite songs to the top of the playlist ? all while sharing their music with their Facebook friends.
