Here's another one that will not go down as one of radio's proudest moments. As most radio stations were finding ways to honor Whitney Houston or reach out to listeners who were fans of hers, KFI Los Angeles talkers John and Ken took a different route. Clear Channel didn't stand for it. They put popular talkers on ice after they went off on Whitney Houston and her drug use.
Here's the Clear Channel statement which was posted to the KFI website. "Effective immediately, KFI AM 640 hosts John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou have been suspended for making insensitive and inappropriate comments about the late Whitney Houston. KFI AM 640 Management does not condone, support or tolerate statements of this kind." The station says the duo will return on the 27th.
You can listen to a piece of the rant that got the pair in trouble HERE. John Kobylt said, ?We made a mistake, and we accept the station?s decision. We used language that was inappropriate, and we sincerely apologize to our listeners and to the family of Ms. Houston.?
