Maynard, who worked in broadcasting for nearly 50 years, died from complications of Parkinson?s disease at his Citrus Hills, Fla., home. Maynard worked as a DJ before hosting an amateur talent show on WBZ-TV for 21 years beginning in 1965. In 1979, he switched to talk, doing overnights. Maynard began hosting WBZ-AM?s morning show in 1980, taking over for Carl De Suze, and creating ?Maynard in the Morning,? before retiring in 1991. Maynard was inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2009. He is survived by his wife, six children and nine grandchildren.
