KGY Radio (Olympia Washington) President/CEO Jennifer Kerry announced the appointment of Jackson Dell Weaver as GM. Kerry said Weaver will manage KGY while operating the five-radio-station cluster in Astoria/Seaside, Oregon, owned by Ohana Media Group of Seattle. Kerry added "Our family has owned radio stations here since the late 1930s so we sought someone with a passion for both the heritage of the stations and for doing great local radio. Jackson will fill that bill for us."
KGY/1240AM celebrates its 90th anniversary this year, one of the first stations to sign on the air in 1922. The Kerry family has operated the station since buying it in 1937. Currently KGY/1240AM is a local news, weather & sports station with hit music of the 60s and early 70s. KGY/FM 96.9, known as ?96.9 The Sound,? signed on the air in 1992 and plays a format of Cool Classics and Hot Hits.
Prior to coming to Olympia, Weaver?s background in radio, television and digital media included broadcast management positions throughout Washington and the mountain West. He managed KJR radio in Seattle, launched SeattleInsider.com for Cox Communications, and put several TV and radio stations on the air in Salt Lake City.
