Entravision Radio Rises 6% In Q3

11-1-2012

Net radio revenue from the Spanish-language-focused company was $17.6 million in Q3 of 2012, up from $16.6 million in 2011. While local revenue was only up 2 percent, national jumped 25 percent. Entravision CEO Walter Ulloa (pictured) says that while the operating environment continues to improve, local is not rebounding as quickly as national. Political revenue has been very strong for Entravision.

Political revenue is up 18 percent compared to the 2008, the year of the previous presidential election. When Entravision backs out political revenue, core radio revenue was up 3 percent. Entravision added 39 new radio advertisers in Q3 totaling $800K in new revenue. The Los Angeles Entravision cluster, which consists of three Spanish-language formats, was up 10 percent for the quarter, while Miller Kaplan is reporting a decrease of 1 percent in market revenue, according to Ulloa. The CEO says the company has incorporated a new cold-calling strategy and a new commission plan.

Entravision owns and operates 48 radio stations, 46 of which are located in the top 50 U.S. Hispanic markets.
