RAB Reports Q3 Revenue Dropped Slightly

11-16-2012

The Radio Advertising Bureau confirms what we've seen from most of the big reporting companies, that radio had a weak third quarter. The RAB issued its quarterly revenue report today and says total spot revenue based on 100 Miller Kaplan Markets, was $3.64 Billion. That's down from Q2 which came in at $3.76 Billion. Q1 was $3.047 Billion. That brings the radio revenue total for the first three quarters to just under $10.5 billion so far for 2012.

While Q3 spending was flat compared to the same time period last year, several categories increased their Spot Radio spending over Q3 2011 levels according to the RAB:
Health Care +26%
Auto Dealers/Dealer Groups/Manufacturers + 7%
Department/Discount Stores/Shopping Centers + 7%
Television/Networks/Cable Providers + 3%
Beverages + 3%
Grocery/Convenience/Liquor Stores + 1%
Casinos/Lottery + 1%
