It's a growing form of entertainment. Audio on demand. The podcast. We've seen Steve Dahl have great success at it as well as Adam Corolla. Even radio talent are loading content into podcasts these days so their listeners can listen at the gym, in their car, or while on vacation. They can listen when they want, where they want. This weekend, podcasters from all over the country will converge on the Le M?ridien Delfina Santa Monica Hotel for the L.A. Podcast Festival. Chris Mancini (pictured) from Comedy Film Nerds is one of the organizers.
The three-day event includes a Saturday night stand-up comedy PodSmash including Marc Maron, panel discussions for podcasters of all levels, and a Podcating lab. Mancini calls podcasting an emerging art form and expects between 600 and 800 people to attend the event. We spoke to Mancini about the festival, the most popular podcasters, who's generating revenue at podcasting, and where this art form is headed. Listen to our interview HERE. Check out the festival website HERE.
The top-ranked comedy podcast on iTunes is called, "Welcome to Night Vale." It's a podcast done about twice every month for about 30 minutes. Mancini says the folks behind that podcast will be at his show.
And if you were wondering who owns the top-ranked business podcast on iTunes...it's Dave Ramsey.
