Garrison Keillor began hosting a morning show on Minnesota Public Radio in 1969. Five years later he created A Prairie Home Companion. This weekend Keillor celebrated 40 years of the program in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Keillor first broadcast the show on July 6, 1974 (there were 12 people in the audience). Today the show is broadcast on more than 600 public-radio stations to four million listeners. This past weekend?s events included dozens of musical performances, appearances by alumni of the show, and a special three-hour broadcast of the show.
