Patrick Mannelly, midday co-host and former Chicago Bears long snapper, announced that he is leaving his daily duties at WSCR-AM mid-Feburary. Chicagoland Radio and Media reports that Mannelly will stay with the station as its Chicago Bears and NFL expert.
The reason behind Mannelly's exit stem from his love of football, and that he doesn't want to spend months talking about other sports. Mannelly felt that it would be best to have someone else in the co-host chair now that football season is over.
WSCR-AM Program Director Mitch Rosen on Mannelly's departure from WSCR, "I love having Patrick on our team. I'm so happy he will remain and focus on football as he will continue as our Bears pre-game host, Bears contributor, and will fill in on some shows throughout the year."

They spent 5months selling us on Patrick's love on all sports. Now he realizes that he doesn't feel the love to talk about other sports. What Mitch Rosen did was fire Patrick, but come up with a reasonable excuse for Patrick to leave in a dignified manner. Maybe Matt Spiegel next. Patrick was hired for the wrong reasons. Never hire a former pro athlete to host a sports talk show.
