In 2014, streaming income topped revenue from downloads in 24 countries, according to the Global independent music group. The PAIS Blog reports that more revenue came from streaming than iTunes in numerous countries, including France, the Netherlands, Spain, Brazil, Poland, and Portugal. France, in particular, bore this out, with 40 percent of its music markets' total income generated from streaming.
