Krasnow: "FCC's Public Airwaves Concept Must Go"

In a new paper media attorney Erwin Krasnow is urging the Federal Communications Commission to dispose of its outdated policy that the public actually owns the broadcast airwaves. "The concept that the public owns the airwaves, particularly as it concerns the authority and mission of the FCC is a mischievous notion that has been misused as a rationalization for government regulation." Krasnow says the public-ownership notion is the main reason for broadcasting's second-class status under the First Amendment. It's time for the FCC to renounce this discredited concept."

"On the day after Osama bin Laden died, the full spectacle of radio was on display. FRESH CONTENT: That's Some Sick Prospecting

In the new world vocabulary, or at least in the new English vocab, the word "sick" doesn't relate to being physically ill. Rather, it means something that is totally incredible, unreal, awesome -- something really fantastic. Prospecting for new leads is different than it was "back in the day," whenever that day was. New software can put an insurance sales rep on the line with a list of qualified leads, dialing 10 numbers at once and automatically dumping nine of them when one gets an answer.
