MusicFirst, by way of spokesman Tom Mattzie, a veteran lobbyist, earlier this week gave a chilly response to the legislative proposals.

The Nielsen Co. reports revenue of $1.3 billion in the third quarter, up 5 percent from the same period in 2009. Excluding the effect of currency fluctuations on the international company, revenue was up 7 percent.

Verizon Pays $25 Million To Settle 'Mystery Fees' Probe

Verizon Wireless has entered into what the FCC is calling a "historic consent decree" and will pay $25 million to the U.S. Treasury to resolve an investigation into millions of dollars in "mystery fees" paid by Verizon customers. The company is also due to refund almost $53 million to and must take steps toe ensure that the fees are stopped.
