As the industry continues to debate the merits of the terms the NAB Radio Board agreed to present to the MusicFirst Coalition, both organizations were quiet Thursday, issuing no new releases or updates. MusicFirst, by way of spokesman Tom Mattzie, a veteran lobbyist, earlier this week gave a chilly response to the legislative proposals.

Nielsen Revenue Rises In Q3

The Nielsen Co. reports revenue of $1.3 billion in the third quarter, up 5 percent from the same period in 2009. Excluding the effect of currency fluctuations on the international company, revenue was up 7 percent.

Verizon Pays $25 Million To Settle 'Mystery Fees' Probe

Verizon Wireless has entered into what the FCC is calling a "historic consent decree" and will pay $25 million to the U.S. Treasury to resolve an investigation into millions of dollars in "mystery fees" paid by Verizon customers. The company is also due to refund almost $53 million to and must take steps toe ensure that the fees are stopped.
