Randy Michaels Resigns As Tribune CEO

Randy Michaels has resigned as CEO of Tribune Co. The Chicago Tribune confirms that he will be replaced by a four-member "executive council." Michaels' resignation was first predicted by the New York Times, the same paper whose front-page story on Michaels and Tribune earlier this month began a wave of controversy over the company's alleged "frat house" culture under Michaels' leadership.

Juan Williams Gets New Fox Deal

After being fired by NPR over remarks he made on Fox News' O’Reilly Factor, commentator Juan Williams has a new multi-year deal with Fox, and will take on an expanded role at the cable network. Meanwhile, some legislators are calling for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to be defunded after the controversy over Williams' firing. The CPB provides about half of NPR's funding.

Hennen Returns To Fargo's 'Flag'

Scott Hennen will soon be back on the air on WZFG-AM/Fargo, ND, with a new show syndicated by Heartland of America. Hennen, who helped relaunch the station as conservative talker "The Flag" in 2008, exited a few weeks ago over what he called an "impasse with investors."

Nielsen takes a look at how consumers use iPads, Kindles, and other "connected devices" in a new study on "The Increasingly Connected Consumer," and finds that most device owners are OK with advertising if it means they can get content for free, and that iPad owners are by far the most receptive to ads among those surveyed.

Vibes, Entercom Expand Agreement

Vibes Media expands its agreement with Entercom Communications, and will now be working with 75 Entercom stations. Vibes has been providing mobile services to about half that number of Entercom outlets for several years.
