Report: Randy Michaels To Resign

The Chicago Tribune reports that Tribune Co. CEO Randy Michaels will resign before the end of the week, to be replaced by a four-member "office of the president." Michaels has been under fire since a New York Times portrayed a sexist, "frat house" atmosphere at Tribune under his management. The Tribune's sources said Michaels "has willingly decided to make his exit."

As Grupo Prisa restructures its boards, Augusto Delkader has been named President of Union Radio and of SER (Sociedad Espanola de Radiodifusion). Replacing him as CEO of both units is Javier Pons. The appointments are part of a major restructuring of the boards of the Prisa companies.

Journal Q3 Radio Revenue Up 3%

Journal's Q3 radio revenue climbed 3%, to $18.5 million, while the company's overall revenue rose 2%, to $101.6 million. Net income grew from $1.8 million to $6.3 million, as diluted EPS from continuing operations increased from 3 cents to 11 cents.

When asked by Audio Graphics, "Considering sources of information available to you, which do you trust the most?" more than 42% of the 1,006 respondents 12-44 said "TV and radio" -- way up from only about 7% two years ago.
