Radio One Raising Funds For Murder Victims

Last week, gunfire broke out at a Detroit barbershop injuring six people and killing three. Sixty-one-year-old Joezell Williams, his 29-year-old nephew Bryan Williams, and his 40-year-old stepson Kevin Perryman were all murdered. Radio One Market Manager Kathy Stinehour tells Radio Ink her three stations are collecting donations for the burial of the three victims with a live broadcast from a local McDonalds from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All Cumulus Stations Raising Money Today

Cumulus Media will raise money throughout the day today on all 525 radio stations. Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey said, "On behalf of all our employees and the communities we are privileged to serve, our hearts and prayers go out to the families and communities that lost loved ones. We hope our efforts help to bring much-needed relief to these communities. Radio?s power to help communities in need is truly inspiring."

The fundraising efforts on May 29th will feature local on-air personalities asking listeners to make donations for the survivors and families of the victims. At 8 p.m., all 84 Country stations will air a one-hour fundraising special hosted by Kix Brooks and co-hosted by KSCS/Dallas personality Hawkeye ? live from backstage at the ?Healing In The Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert.?

(AUDIO) Memphis Station Raising Money For Dying Boy

Q 107.5 in Memphis has rallied around a 15 year old boy who just found out he has a rare case of pancreatic cancer. After experiencing stomach pains at a church outing, Trey Erwin was taken to the hospital and the cancer was discovered. The young man has been told if treatment is successful, he has 11 months to live. Q107 Operations Manager Chris Taylor talks about how the community and the radio station have rallied around Trey to help his family with what will be an astronomical amount of medical bills.

Noory Raising Money For Regular Guest

When Coast to Coast AM host George Noory (pictured) learned that frequent guest Mitch Battros was overwhelmed with medical bills from his new born baby?s heart complications, Noory enlisted the help of his  audience. Battros, a Seattle-based weather/earth science reporter and host of the ?Earth Changes Media? podcast, needed to raise $17,535 to help pay for his daughter Sophia?s unexpected medical expenses.  After Noory shared Battros? encouraged listeners to contribute to ?Sophia?s Wellness Fund?  (http://www.earthchangesmedia.com/), Battros received donations totaling more than $18,000.

Noory stated, ?I want to thank the Coast to Coast AM listeners for their generosity.  Thanks to them, Mitch and his family can focus on what matters most ? Sophia?s continued health and wellness.?
