Citadel Counter. We Actually Overpaid Paul Finemaum.

There's been more court filings in the very public fight between Citadel and sports-talker Paul Finebaum who is trying to get out of his contract with the company. The Birmingham Business Journal reports that Finebaum wants his lawsuit against Citadel moved back to county court and his attorney has filed a motion stating federal court lacks jurisdiction. The paper also says recent document filings state that "an accounting error led Citadel to overpay Finebaum between 2007 and 2010 ? though the amount of the alleged overpayment was redacted from the file." Finebaum denies he was overpaid.

The paper also says attorneys involved in the suit told federal Judge Scott Coogler their attempts to settle the case out of court failed, leaving them no option but to proceed with the case. Citadel filed a motion on August 3rd that moved the suit to federal court because the sum in question exceeds $75,000 and because Citadel is organized in a different state. According to the paper, Finebaum?s court filings contend the amount in controversy does not exceed $75,000. His suit alleges Citadel violated the terms of his employment contract by agreeing to federal bankruptcy reorganization without his approval. It also alleges Citadel coerced Finebaum into signing an unfavorable amendment to his employment contract by threatening to pull his show from the air if he refused.
