SiriusXM Fires Anthony Cumia

7-4-14

Even the unregulated SiriusXM has a line you should never cross, but Anthony Cumia found a way to cross it and he no longer works at SiriusXM. No word yet on how or if the show survives without one half of the Opie and Anthony duo. SiriusXM fired Cumia for extremely vulgar and racist tweets. He says he was confronted by a woman on the streets of New York City when he was taking pictures. He claims she punched him in the face five times and then he went on Twitter and used graphically vulgar language to describe the woman, who is African American. You can read the tweets on the website Gawker HERE

Here's the full statement from SiriusXM: "SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the Opie & Anthony channel. The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3, after careful consideration of his racially charged and hate-filled remarks on social media. Those remarks and postings are abhorrent to SiriusXM, and his behavior is wholly inconsistent with what SiriusXM represents

Of course, Bob. That he got blown out for being a race-o'-tard is understood. Also true that other racists would line up WITH him is a reality in society. If the roles were reversed - white citizen on black broadcaster - and the black guy revealed his position and tweeted his own racist face off - he'd be gone, too.

Not only does this scenario produce no winners, it may not produce any lessons. At least, not the kind of lesson a complete idiot could be compelled to learn.

My wife just returned from a few weeks near Raleigh, N.C. Her first comment at home was about the spectacular and rampant racism to which she was exposed. Included were the jumbled justifications for its continuation. Work in Progress... I guess.

No Ronald, the real issue and story IS Anthony ' s racism. And you say that some would even excuse that. Really?! I think most would agree, only other racists would "excuse" Anthony ' s remarks. That's why he was fired.

Ed the ed' makes the point.
Do we not all understand that very reality - unequivocally and categorically...? Apparently some do not and think they're bullet-proof. Such a vicious tirade automatically demonstrates brain-death.

If I texted comments like that on my own Twitter page, I'd expect Eric to fire me from Radio Ink.

To make the comments that Anthony made while being physically and verbally attacked, and keep his job, well, Anthony would have to be Black, to get a Free Pass on that. Why do we give blacks the Free Pass on racism of blacks, when that occurs? I don't know. But, we do live a world of numerous Double Standards.
