For the third year, Q Country Ithaca morning host Chris Allinger has strapped on his backpack to walk for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. His Walkin? the Country event takes the DJ to every town in Tompkins County raising funds for the program that helps feed children at risk of hunger on weekends and holidays during the school year. Allinger received a major boost with his first step on the pavement. Cornell Athletics & Physical Education staff, coaches, and friends made an early donation of $6,500. Cornell Director of Athletics & Physical Education Andy Noel said, ?I cannot imagine a cause more compelling than helping to provide nourishment to children most at risk to being hungry over the weekend.?
