Long Island Owner Jack Ellsworth Dies

9-15-13

The former radio station owner was 91. According to Newsday he died from renal failure, almost two months after his wife of 61 years passed away. His son told Newsday, "He really died of a broken heart. They were inseparable." The two ran the independent radio station WLIM/1580 AM together from 1981 to 2001. After they sold the station, his show aired on WALK-AM. Ellsworth played big-band music on the Island for over half a century. (picture courtesy Newsday)
