5,000 "Christmas Care" Gifts Delivered

12-17-13

WEMI-FM in Appleton/Oshkosh and WEMY-FM 91.5 in Green Bay just completed the 16th annual Christmas Care gift campaign and it was a record-breaker. More than 5,000 brightly decorated Christmas Care shoebox gifts were delivered to dozens of local crisis agencies and emergency rooms for people in need or in crisis this Christmas. The event has become a favorite for shelter staff and hospital emergency-room workers who watch carefully for clients/patients in crisis or lacking adequate clothing and who clearly need a Christmas Care gift.

Residents were invited to fill a wrapped shoe box with "something warm, something fun, something useful, and something yummy" for a neighbor in need, to label their gift for the age and gender of the recipient, and to deliver gifts to local collection sites by Dec. 10. Christmas Care is co-sponsored, in a very active way by Culver?s Frozen Custard of Darboy, Festival Foods Stores, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Pet Supplies ?Plus? of Appleton, and Fox 11 WLUK. More information about Christmas Care is at www.thefamily.net
