"Holiday" 2015 ratings information has been released for Portland, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Sacramento, San Antonio, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Orlando, and Columbus. Nielsen Audio's "Holiday" 2015 survey period covered December 3 – 30. RadioInfo managing editor Mike Kinosian (Kinosian@RadioInfo.com) provides his "Takeaways" from these 12-PPM markets.
 
TWELVE TAKEAWAYS
 
1) Portland – "No more calls – we have a winner," is what was commonly uttered when on-air ticket giveaways were being KKCW Christmasconducted. That verbiage applies in the case of iHeartMedia adult contemporary KKCW "K-103," which establishes the record for loftiest 6+-share ever in any PPM in any ratings sweep. Its target demo numbers must be positively staggering, but the bottom line to the "beauty contest" 6+-stat is that "K-103"KKRZ blows the roof off the market with a 21.4 – a gain of 10 full-shares! (Rarely are exclamation points used in these "Takeaway" summaries but this feat warrants an exception.) It is hardly a common occurrence that the #1 station in a market laps the combined total of the next four finishers, but "K-103" accomplishes that. By way of perspective, the closest any other station has come to a 20.0 share (and remember, KKCW now sits at 21.4) is a 19.3 by Salt Lake City adult contemporary KSFI and an 18.6 by Nashville adult contemporary WJXA; ironically, both of those happened in the same sweep – "Holiday" 2013. In its past six "Holiday" performances (6+), KKCW has logged an 18.1 (2014); 15.1 (2013); 15.8 (2012); 14.0 (2011); 17.7 (2010); and 14.9 (2009). After four successive sweeps without an increase (6.3 – 5.4 – 5.1 – 4.5 – 4.2, 6+), co-owned CHR KKRZ "Z-100" gains two-tenths (to 4.4, 6+) inching up from ninth to sixth. Similarly, rhythmic CHR sibling KXJM "Jam'n 107.5" picks up one-tenth (to 3.6, #13 to #10, 6+), thus halting four straight down or flat monthlies (4.5 – 4.2 – 4.2 – 4.1 – 3.5, 6+). A +.6 to 3.6 (6+) enables Entercom's KGON to leapfrog from #16 to #10; in December, the classic rocker was down one full-share to 3.0, the station's lowest 6+share under PPM methodology. Now the bad news: Here is an overview of the stations most impacted by the "K-103" juggernaut. The country share erodes by -3.5, as Entercom's KWJJ "The Wolf" declines by -2.1 (7.2 – 5.1) and Alpha Media-owned KUPL "The Bull" by -1.4 (4.8 – 3.4); "The Wolf" slides from second to fourth and "The Bull" from #7 to #12. Prior to December's -2.1, "The Wolf" enjoyed four successive positive trends (7.0 – 8.2 – 8.3 – 8.7 – 9.3, 6+) for a combined +2.3; "The Bull" had successive gains of four-tenths in October and November before a -.8 in December. Off by six-tenths in December, Entercom adult hits KYCH "Charlie" is -1.1 (3.8 – 2.7, 6+) to tumble from #12 to #15, where it is tied with Alpha Media triple A KINK, which is down from #11 (3.9 – 2.7, -1.2). Despite losing seven-tenths, Oregon Public Broadcasting-owned KOPB advances from third to second; KOPB is down or flat for the fourth straight time (6.7 – 6.4 – 6.0 – 6.0 – 5.3, 6+). Faltering by nine-tenths and six-tenths, respectively, are Entercom hot AC and alternative siblings KRSK "The Buzz" (5.2 – 4.3, sixth to seventh, 6+) and KNRK (3.1 – 2.5, #15 to #17, 6+). Before a full-share gain in December, "The Buzz" did not have an increase in the previous three sweeps (4.7 – 4.6 – 4.5 – 4.2, 6+). Following four straight up-trends producing a cumulative +1.2 (2.2 – 2.3 – 2.4 – 2.9 – 3.4, 6+), public KQAC "All Classical Portland" drops six-tenths to 2.8, but actually inches up from #14 to a tie at #13.
 
2) Charlotte – Stuck on 5.8 (6+) in October and November, WKQC "K-104.7" registered a +.8 in December to reach 6.6. The WKQC ChristmasBeasley Media Group adult contemporary doubles that 6.6 to 13.2 (+6.6, 6+) and marches from #3 to #1. For the first time in its PPM-history, Davidson College classical WDAV crosses the two-share threshold (1.7 – 2.5, +.8, 6+) and improves from #16 to #15. Mirroring what happened in Portland (see above), the mega-gain made by an adult contemporary property playing all-ChristmasWDAV music throughout the "Holiday" sweep has a huge impact on country. In this case, iHeartMedia's WKKT not only slumps by a whopping -2.6 (8.5 – 5.9, 6+), "The Kat" scampers from first to third. Following a -1.3 in December, Beasley Media Group's WSOC "Country's Greatest Hits" further erodes by -1.4 (8.8 – 7.5 – 6.1, but remains in the runner-up spot behind AC sibling "K-104.7"; WSOC was +.8 in November. Off by six-tenths each are iHeartMedia adult hits WLKO "The Lake" (eighth to ninth, 6+) and Beasley Media Group's WFNZ "Sports Radio 610 The Fan" (1.7 – 1.1, #16 to #18, 6+). Albeit that it accounted for (only) a total gain of eight-tenths, nonetheless "The Fan" did not have a decrease in the past 10 ratings periods (.9 – .9 – .9 – 1.1 – 1.1 – 1.1 – 1.1 – 1.3 – 1.6 – 1.7 – 1.7, 6+). "The Lake" is down or flat for the fifth successive time for a combined -1.9 (5.6 – 4.9 – 4.7 – 4.3 – 4.3 – 3.7, 6+). Having ranked #12 the past six monthlies, Radio One gospel WPZS "Praise – Charlotte's Inspiration Station" falters by one-half share (3.4 – 2.9, 6+) and drops to #14.
 
3) Pittsburgh – Not only does WWSW apply the brakes to four straight decreases for a combined -2.4 (10.8 – 10.1 – 9.3 – 8.9 – 8.4, WWSW6+), "3WS" rings up a +5.8 to 14.2 and progresses from third to first. The iHeartMedia classic hits-oldies outlet displaces cluster-mate WDVE (10.0 – 9.6, -.4, 6+), which slips to second. The runner-up slot is familiar to WDVE as, prior to November, WDVE spent seven successive months there; the rock station was +1.1 in November and -.9 in December. By picking up one-tenth (to 2.6, 6+), country sibling WPGB "Big 104.7" not only curtails threeWPGB-FM consecutive sweeps without a gain (3.2 – 2.7 – 2.7 – 2.5, 6+), it cracks the top ten (#11 to #10). This marks the 18th straight time that public outlet WESA (1.8 – 1.9, +.1, 6+) finishes at #12. After three straight gains producing a +2.0 (6.7 – 7.7 – 8.5 – 8.7, 6+), Steel City Media adult hits WRRK "Bob-FM" sputters by -1.6 to 7.1, moving from second to third. A massive -1.8 (8.4 – 6.6, 6+) drops CBS Radio talker KDKA-AM from third to fourth; it is the lowest 6+-share for KDKA-AM since August (6.1). Also in that cluster, WDSY "Y-108 Pittsburgh's New Hit Country" (flat at #9) is off for the fourth successive sweep (4.9 – 4.6 – 4.5 – 4.0 – 3.9, 6+), while sports sibling KDKA-FM (steady at #6) is down for the third consecutive monthly (10.1 – 6.5 – 5.9 – 5.3, 6+). Eroding by six-tenths each are the market's two hot ACs – KDKA sibling WBZZ "Star 100.7" (4.9 – 4.3, seventh, 6+) and "Bob-FM" cluster-mate WLTJ "Q-92.9" (2.9 – 2.3, #10 – #11, 6+). By picking up seven-tenths (to 2.9) in December, "Q-92.9" ended five successive monthlies without an increase (3.2 – 3.2 – 3.1 – 2.5 – 2.2 – 2.2, 6+).
 
4) Sacramento – Having each advanced by one-half share in December, CBS Radio adult contemporary KYMX "Mix 96" and KYMXEntercom hot AC KUDL "Star 106.5" now take center stage in the "Holiday" report. "Mix 96" improves by more than five full-shares to zoom from #3 to #1, while "Star" notches a gain roughly half that of "Mix" (2.5 – 3.0 – 5.6, +2.6) and rockets from #12 all the way to #4. This is the fourth successive improvementKUDL Sac producing a combined +7.2 for "Mix" (4.5 – 5.5 – 5.9 – 6.4 – 11.7, 6+), which replaces Entercom classic rock KSEG "The Eagle" (9.5 – 9.1, -.4) at #1. "The Eagle" ranked on top the first ten months of 2015; was edged out by KFBK in November; and returned to #1 in December. Regarding KFBK, the iHeartMedia news-talk hybrid suffers a -1.3 (8.3 – 7.0, 6+) and slips from second to third. The -.7 it posted in December ended three consecutive increases that yielded a combined +1.6 (7.4 – 7.6 – 8.4 – 9.0, 6+). Prior to November, KFBK last reached the nine-share level (6+) nearly six years ago (February 2010, 9.1). Locked on 4.7 (6+) in October, November, and December, CBS Radio's KNCI sputters by one full-share to 3.7 as "New Country 105.1" skids from fourth to eighth. Off by eight-tenths (2.7 – 1.9, 6+), Entravision Spanish adult hits KXSE "Jose" moves from #15 to #17. Regressing by seven-tenths each are Entercom cluster-mates CHR KDND "107.9 The End" (4.5 – 3.8, fifth to seventh, 6+) and KRXQ "98 Rock" (seventh to tenth, 6+). After seven straight ratings periods without registering an increase (6.3 – 5.6 – 5.3 – 5.2 – 4.8 – 4.8 – 4.6 – 4.1, 6+), "The End" gained four-tenths in December; it is the third straight loss for "98 Rock" (4.5 – 4.4 – 4.1 – 3.7, 6+). In 4.1 – 4.7 range the past seven sweeps, CBS Radio rhythmic CHR KSFM "KS-102.5" drops six-tenths to 3.5 (seventh to ninth, 6+).
 
5) San Antonio – Following December's +1.2, iHeartMedia adult contemporary KQXT tacks on four-and-one-half shares (4.9 KQXT Christmas– 6.1 – 10.6, 6+), propelling "Q-101.9" from third to first. Up one-tenth (4.3 – 4.4, 6+), co-owned CHR KXXM "Mix 96.1" progresses from an eighth-place tie to a sixth-place tie. Even though the net gain is four-tenths, Texas Public Radio classical KPAC (#20 to #18) is up or flat for the third consecutive time (1.5 – 1.5 – 1.8 – 1.9, 6+). Dropping from first to second is Cox Media Group classic hits-oldies KONO-FM "San Antonio's Greatest Hits" (8.5 – 7.8, -.7, 6+), which had been #1 in 17 of the last 22 sweeps. A loss of nine-tenths (4.6 – 3.7, 6+) drives Univision's KXTN "107.5 Tejano & Proud" from the top ten (#7 to #11). Locked on 4.8 (6+) inKXXM November and December, iHeartMedia talker WOAI sputters by eight-tenths to 4.0 (sixth to tenth, 6+). Off by one-half share each are co-owned KQXT-HD3 (2.2 – 1.7, #16 to #19, 6+) and Cox Media Group classic country KKYX "Country Legends" (#21 – #22, 6+); "Country Legends" erodes for the third straight time for a cumulative -1.4 (2.5 – 2.4 – 1.6 – 1.1, 6+).
 
6) Cincinnati – Actually down in December – but by a mere one-tenth – Cumulus Media adult contemporary WRRM "Warm 98" WRRM Christmasroars back by more than doubling December's 5.8 (11.9, +6.1, 6+) to advance from #5 to #1. History repeats itself, as the last time "Warm 98" reached #1 was "Holiday" 2014 when it succeeded WLW, which went on to stay on top for the next 12WLW ratings periods. Even though WLW posts a +.6, it falls to #2, but is in double-digits (6+) for the 23rd straight sweep (10.7 – 11.3, 6+). Having already spiked by -1.2 in December, Hubbard country outlet WUBE erodes by a robust -1.4 and "B-105" (third to fifth) is down for the fourth consecutive time for a combined -3.6 (9.5 – 9.3 – 8.5 – 7.3 – 5.9, 6+). Also regressing by -1.4 and shifting from second to third is Cumulus Media's WGRR (8.2 – 6.8, 6+). Steady at #6, classic rock cluster-mate WOFX "The Fox" forfeits one full-share (5.7 – 4.7, 6+). Country sibling WNNF "Nash 94.1" (1.9, #14 to #16, 6+) and Hubbard rhythmic hot AC WREW "Mix 94.9" (unchanged at #7, 6+) are each down by six-tenths. It is the first loss for "Nash" in the last five sweeps (2.2 – 2.3 – 2.3 – 2.3 – 2.3 – 2.5, 6+), while "Mix" is down or flat for the third straight time (5.4 – 5.2 – 5.2 – 4.6, 6+). Remaining in fourth-place, Hubbard Hot AC WKRQ "Q-102" is without an increase for the fourth successive ratings period (7.2 – 6.8 – 6.8 – 6.7 – 6.2, 6+).
 
7) Cleveland – Mirroring what happens in Cincinnati, this Ohio market also has two stations in double-digits (6+). Specifically, WDOK ChristmasCBS Radio adult contemporary WDOK "Star "102" adds nearly four full-shares to December's +1.2 (7.3 – 8.5 – 12.4, +3.9, 6+) and proceeds from #2 to #1. Even though its eight-month run at #1 ends, iHeartMedia classic hits-oldies WMJI (#1 to #2) manages toWMJI register a +1.9 (10.4 – 12.3, 6+). Larger than normal (6+) fluctuations (up and down) are not foreign to "Cleveland's Greatest Hits." Since April, the station has been -2.2; +.1; +1.1; +1.0; -.2; +.4; -1.3; +1.4; -1.8; and now +1.9. The 12.3 share (6+) it records in "Holiday" 2015 is its best ever under PPM methodology. Meanwhile, co-owned country WGAR is off by more than two full-shares (7.2 – 5.1, -2.1, 6+) and falls from fifth to sixth. This is the fourth consecutive sweep that Radio One urban AC WZAK (third to fourth) is without a gain (8.4 – 7.9 – 7.6 – 7.6 – 6.8, 6+). Surrendering one-half share each are urban contemporary sibling WENZ "Z-107.9" (ninth to tenth, 6+) and iHeartMedia talker WTAM (5.4 – 4.9, seventh to eighth, 6+); "Z-107.9" is down or flat for the fourth successive ratings period (5.4 – 5.2 – 5.2 – 4.8 – 4.3, 6+). With a +.1 to 4.6 (6+), iHeartMedia CHR WAKS (#10 to #9) curtails six sweeps without an improvement; "Kiss-FM" was a combined -.9 in that time (5.4 – 5.1 – 4.8 – 4.6 – 4.5 – 4.5 – 4.5, 6+).
 
8) Salt Lake City – Flaunting the second best (6+) December 2015 – "Holiday" 2015 gain from among these particular 12 PPMKSFImarkets is Bonneville's KSFI "FM 100.3" (+7.1), which remains at #1 and posts its third straight increase (6.0 – 6.4 – 8.5 – 15.6, 6+). Naturally, any station would gladly take a 15.6 share, but it is actually 2.3 lower than the 17.9 KSFI registered in "Holiday" 2014. In December, KLO Broadcasting adultKSQN contemporary KSQN more than doubled November's .9; "Sunny 103" now adds eight-tenths (2.0 – 2.8, 6+) to jump from #19 to #14. Public KRCL "90.9 Community Connection – Music Discovery" notches a +.5 (.4 – .9, 6+) and checks in at #25. The streak of monthlies without an increase for Capital Broadcasting hot AC KBZN "Now 97.7" and iHeartMedia classic hits-oldies KODJ "Salt Lake's Greatest Hits" reaches seven. Steady at #3, "Now 97.7" is a combined -2.4 in that stretch (8.1 – 7.8 – 7.6 – 7.3 – 7.0 – 6.8 – 6.6 – 5.7, 6+), while "Salt Lake's Greatest Hits" is off by over three full-shares (6.3 – 6.2 – 5.7 – 5.7 – 5.3 – 5.0 – 4.5 – 2.9, 6+); KODJ drops out of the top ten (#9 to #13). Co-owned hot AC KJMY "My 99.5" sputters by -1.4 (4.9 – 3.5, 6+) and drifts from a three-way tie at #5 to #10. After three successive up or flat trends (4.2 – 4.2 – 4.8 – 4.9, 6+), Bonneville-owned KRSP "Utah's Classic 103.5 The Arrow" surrenders -1.2 to 3.7, tumbling from fifth to ninth. Slumping by seven-tenths each are Broadway Media CHR and adult hits siblings KUDD "Mix 107.9" and KYMV "Rewind 100.7" (1.5, 6+), as well as Cumulus Media adult contemporary KBEE "B-98.7" (2.3 – 1.6, #17 to #19, 6+). "Mix" was stuck on 4.1 (6+) in September and October and then on 4.5 (6+) in November and December yet actually moves from ninth to eighth; "Rewind" (#18 to #20) was up or flat the past three sweeps (1.7 – 1.9 – 2.2 – 2.2, 6+). Shaking loose from three straight months at 1.6 (6+), "B-98.7" notched a +.7 in December. Even though Broadway Media alternative KXRK is -.6 and down for the third successive time, (4.7 – 4.4 – 4.0 – 3.4, 6+), "X-96" manages to improve from #12 to #11. Without an increase for the sixth consecutive time (2.4 – 2.2 – 2.2 – 1.8 – 1.2 – 1.1 – .6, 6+), KSOP-AM has its 6+-share cut by 75%; "Classic Country 1370" freefalls to #28. Also off by one-half share are co-owned KSOP-FM "Z-104 Utah's #1 Country" (4.9 – 4.4, fifth to sixth, 6+) and iHeartMedia CHR KZHT (5.2 – 4.7, fourth to fifth, 6+).
 
9) Las Vegas – Following three successive down trends, iHeartMedia adult contemporary KSNE "Sunny 106.5" KSNE Christmasrebounds with back-to-back gains of +2.2 (December) and +5.1 ("Holiday") and is #1 for the 16th straight time (9.6 – 9.4 – 8.9 – 8.4 – 10.6 – 15.7, 6+). Over the course of four straight up-trends (2.9 – 3.0 – 3.3 – 3.5 – 4.3, 6+), Univision regional Mexican KISF is a combined +1.4 and jumps from #12 (December) to #6. Owing to a +.4 (to 4.9, 6+), CBS Radio-owned KLUC "Las Vegas' #1 Hit Music Station" (fifth to fourth) curtails three straight declines that produced aKISF cumulative -2.3 (6.8 – 5.4 – 5.0 – 4.5, 6+). Off by seven-tenths in December, Beasley Media Group classic hits-oldies KKLZ declines by twice that much in "Holiday" (7.1 – 6.4 – 5.0, -1.4, 6+) as it slips from second to third. It is a similar story for CBS Radio rhythmic hot AC KXQQ "Q-100.5," which lost one-half share in December and is now down one full-share (4.0 – 3.0, 6+). Debuting with a .5 in September, "Q-100.5" exploded to 2.8 in October; progressed to 4.5 in November (6+); but now drops out of the top ten (#7 to #11). Also off by one full-share is Beasley Media Group country KCYE "The Coyote" (2.8 – 1.8, #14 to #19, 6+). Enduring losses of nine-tenths each are CBS Radio hot AC KMXB "Mix" (6.1 – 5.2, 6+) and Faith Communications contemporary Christian KSOS "Radio for Life" (3.8 – 2.9, 6+). "Mix" has its streak of consecutive increases snapped at four (4.9 – 5.6 – 5.7 – 5.8 – 6.1, 6+), but actually inches up from third to second. Prior to its +.8 in December, "Radio for Life" had four straight down or flat monthlies (3.8 – 3.3 – 3.0 – 3.0 – 3.0, 6+); it exits the top ten (#9 to #12). Slight consecutive drops (2.8 – 2.6 – 2.3, 6+) by Beasley Media Group hot AC KVGS preceded December's +.9, giving "Star 107.9" its strongest 6+-showing since the "Holiday" 2014 report; however, it drops one-half share (3.2 – 2.7, 6+) and remains at #13.
 
10) Kansas City – Without an increase for seven straight sweeps (4.6 – 3.8 – 3.5 – 3.2 – 3.0 – 2.2 – 2.2 – 2.2, 6+), Steel City Media KCKC Christmasadult contemporary KCKC posted a +1.3 in December. Continuing on that positive track, "KC-102.1 Kansas City's Christmas Station" improves by more than four full-shares in the "Holiday" report, making the most dramatic ranker move in the 36 PPM-markets we have analyzed – #16 all the way to #2. Leading the field is Cumulus Media classic hits-oldies outlet KCMO-FMKCMO-FM Christmas "Your #1 Choice for Christmas Music," which zoomed from #11 to #2 in December (6.0 – 8.9, +2.9, 6+). Before that, KCMO-FM had been in the 4.1 – 4.9 range (6+) the previous 11 ratings periods. The station it unseats from the penthouse is co-owned classic rocker KCFX "The Fox," down or flat for the third straight time (7.7 – 7.6 – 7.6 – 7.2, #3, 6+). Owing to a +.1 to 3.9 (6+), Entercom's KQRC "The Rock" (#12 to #10) pulls the plug on three straight downtrends that yielded a combined -1.7 (5.5 – 5.1 – 4.4 – 3.8, 6+). A December gain of nine-tenths enabled University of Missouri-owned KCUR to enter the top ten, but the public station relinquishes all of it (3.2 – 4.1 – 3.2, 6+) and plummets from #10 to #15. Also declining by nine-tenths – following a +.6 in December – is KPRS "Hot 103 Jamz." The Carter Broadcast Group urban contemporary was -1.3 in November, after being up or flat the previous five sweeps (4.8 – 5.1 – 5.3 – 5.3 – 6.3 – 6.4, 6+); KPRS (5.1 – 5.7 – 4.8, 6+) skids from third to sixth. Two of the market's three FM country properties take a hit, with Steel City Media's KFKF "Country 94.1" down seven-tenths (4.6 – 3.9, seventh to tenth, 6+) and Entercom's WDAF "The Wolf" -.6 (4.3 – 3.7, #9 to #12, 6+). Having added one-half share in December, Steel City Media's KBEQ "Q-104 #1 For New Country" tacks on three-tenths (3.3 – 3.8 – 4.1, 6+) and enters the top ten (#12 to #9). Among those surrendering one-half share are Cumulus Media CHR KCHZ "The Vibe" (3.4, #11 to #13); co-owned adult hits KCJK "Jack-FM" (3.1, #15 to #16); Entercom talker KMBZ-FM (3.3, #12 to 14); talk sibling KMBZ-AM (2.6, #17 to #18); and sports cluster-mate KCSP (2.5, #18 to #19). KMBZ-AM was up seven-tenths in December after being down or flat the previous four sweeps (1.8 – 1.6 – 1.4 – 1.4 – 1.3, 6+). "Jack-FM" notched a +1.4 this time last month. Boasting a +4.8 in November enabling it to rank first and to reach (6+) double-digits for the first time in its PPM history (10.6), KCSP "610 Sports Radio" sunk to 3.3 (-7.6), nose-diving from #1 to #18; 2.5 is the station's weakest 6+-stat since March (also 2.5).
 
11) Orlando – With so many downward moves across-the-board, it is unusual to find a scenario with four successive increases, but WMGF ChristmasiHeartMedia adult contemporary WMGF "Magic 107.7" (repeating at #1) gets it started with a +.5.2 (7.7 – 12.9, 6+). Its recent (6+) trending includes +.5 in October; -1.0 in November; and +1.6 in December. Previous penthouse occupant – Spanish tropical sibling WRUM "Rumba" – gains seven-tenths (7.2 – 7.9, 6+) and continues in the runner-up slot. After addingWJHM six-tenths in December, contemporary Christian WPOZ "Z-88.3 Safe for the Little Ears" doubles that increase (5.0 – 5.6 – 6.8, +1.2, 6+) and climbs from sixth to third. Down or flat the past three sweeps (6.2 – 5.7 – 5.7 – 5.6, 6+), Cox Media Group urban AC WCFB "Star 94.5" notches a +.8 to 6.4 and inches up from sixth to fourth. Locked on 5.6 in November and December, sibling WMMO, however, sputters by -1.2 to 4.4 and drops from sixth to eighth (6+). It is the third successive slip for "Sunny" (7.3 – 7.0 – 5.7 – 4.6, 6+) for a combined -2.7. Contrasted to the -1.1 by "XL-106.7," CBS Radio's WJHM "Amp Radio" gains seven-tenths (3.1 – 3.8, 6+) to jump from #14 to #11. Up eight-tenths the past two monthlies (5.4 – 6.0 – 6.2, 6+), hot AC cluster-mate WOMX "Mix 105.1" returns it all (5.4, fourth to sixth, 6+). On the heels of December's -.6, Cox Media Group country WWKA "K-92.3" coughs up another full-share (5.0 – 4.4 – 3.4, 6+) and falls out of the top ten (10 to #12). With six successive monthlies without a decrease, WFLF more than doubled its 6+-share (1.1 – 1.6 – 1.6 – 1.8 – 1.8 – 1.9 – 2.4, 6+), but the iHeartMedia talker regresses by seven tenths to 1.7 and drops from #15 to #17. Elsewhere in the spoken-word arena, cluster-mate WTKS "Real Radio 104.1" (flat at #13) is off for the fifth straight time (5.1 – 4.8 – 4.6 – 4.3 – 3.3 – 2.8, 6+) resulting in a net loss of -2.3, while Cox Media Group talker WDBO-FM is also down by one-half share (3.9 – 3.4, #12, 6+). In the 2.0 – 2.9 range the past 14 sweeps, public WMFE adds four-tenths (2.2 – 2.6) to move from #16 to #15.
 
12) Columbus – Leaping from eighth to fifth in December with a +2.6, iHeartMedia classic hits-oldies WODC almost doubles that WODC Christmasgain and takes over the market's leader board (4.0 – 6.6 – 11.5, +4.9, 6+). Before December's +2.6, WODC had six successive negative trends for a cumulative -1.4 (5.4 – 5.2 – 5.0 – 4.7 – 4.4 – 4.2 – 4.0, 6+). It succeeds co-owned WNCI – off eight-tenths in December and now by a whopping -1.7 (11.8 – 11.0 – 9.3, #2, 6+). WNCI was #1 for three consecutive sweeps after occupying the runner-upWSNY spot 16 straight ratings periods. Ranked fourth for nine successive ratings periods, Saga adult contemporary WSNY "Sunny 95" busts out a +1.7 to 8.4 and climbs to third; "Sunny" was locked on 6.7 (6+) in November and December. Classic hits-oldies sibling WNND "Rewind" (#14 to #15) though is down or flat for the fourth straight time (2.6 – 2.5 – 2.0 – 2.0 – 1.4, 6+), losing roughly 50 of its 6+-share. Advancing from #11 into the top ten (#8), contemporary Christian WCVO "The River" improves by one full-share to 4.2, its highest 6+-share since June (4.3). Having registered positive trends for five consecutive monthlies producing a combined +2.9 (3.6 – 4.1 – 4.9 – 6.3 – 6.4 – 6.5, 6+), RadiOhio-owned sports outlet WBNS-FM "The Fan" slumps by -1.9 to 4.6 and drops from sixth to seventh. After regressing by -1.5 in December, Radio One urban AC WXMG "Magic" continues to spiral with a -1.6 (4.6 – 3.1 – 1.5, 6+) and freefalls from #7 (November) to #12 (December) to #14 ("Holiday"). Without an increase for the sixth consecutive sweep (8.0 – 8.0 – 7.9 – 7.3 – 7.2 – 7.1 – 6.3, 6+), iHeartMedia talker WTVN (-1.7 in that period) backslides from third to fifth. Right behind it is Wilks Broadcasting classic rocker WLVQ "Q-FM 96, which is down seven-tenths (5.5 – 4.8, 6+) yet improves from seventh to sixth. A cumulative -4.9 (6+) since July, iHeartMedia country outlet WCOL (#2 to #4) posts a negative trend for the sixth consecutive sweep (12.9 – 11.5 – 10.8 – 10.1 – 9.5 – 8.5 – 8.0, 6+); up until October, WCOL ranked #1 for nine successive months. Co-owned alternative WXZX "105.7 The X," which had declined in each of the last three ratings periods (2.9 – 2.3 – 2.0 – 1.5, 6+), picks up three-tenths to 1.8 (#15 to #13).
