Stern Show to Start at 7AM

In 2015 Howard Stern gets to sleep in another hour. Stern announced on SiriusXM that in 2015 his program will run from 7AM to 11AM. Stern explained that the show runs 24 hours on his channel so it really doesn't matter when he starts, people can listen at any time. Stern's second contract expires at the end of 2015 and there has been no indication from the King of All Media what he plans to do on the radio after that contract is up. Sirius executives have publicly stated they want to sign Stern to another contract.

Report: Stern To Become Limbaugh Neighbor

The Palm Beach Post is reporting that Howard Stern is the buyer of a $52 million mansion in Palm Beach. It was a private sale for an oceanfront home sold by textile and apparel executive Martin Trust and his wife, Diane. The paper says the couple bought the home in 1986 for less than $5 million. Two buildings sit on the lot with a total of 39,094 square feet of living space, inside and out. The main house has 18,673 square feet and the additional building has 1,196 square feet. Mike Stern Returns to Jacobs Media

Jacobs Media announced today that programmer, researcher, talent coach, and writer Mike Stern will rejoin the company as a consultant. Stern worked for Jacobs back in the early ?90s during the launch of the company?s Edge format.  Since that time, he has programmed Alternative, Rock, and Classic Rock in markets as diverse as Dayton, Las Vegas, and Chicago.

It Never Entered My Mind To Sue Howard Stern For Defamation

As the jury awaits instructions in the Bubba The Love Sponge defamation lawsuit Wednesday, we spoke to someone who can certainly relate to Todd "MJ" Schnitt's situation. John DeBella was the radio king in Philadelphia from 1984-1989. His Morning Zoo program on rocker WMMR earned him big money (a 2002 Philadelphia Weekly story claimed DeBella was making $1.2 million a year) and big ratings. It also earned him a big target on his back. And taking aim at that target was radio's leading sharpshooter, Howard Stern.

In 1986, Howard Stern was being piped into Philadelphia on WYSP. And, as Stern did with every top-rated morning show he competed against, he went right after DeBella. There was the typical name-calling, and long tirades with Stern delivering nasty, nonstop verbal assaults. Then came the more personal attacks.

When DeBella and his wife were having issues, Stern threw a "divorce party."

Stern did eventually become number one in Philadelphia, which led to gloating that culminated in Stern's making a trip to Philly to stage a mock funeral for DeBella in Rittenhouse Square, right below the windows of WMMR. Stern even burned DeBella in effigy.

For his part, DeBella never engaged on the air with Stern, and he says not once did he consider filing a lawsuit against Stern for the things he was saying. We spoke with DeBella to get his perspective on the Bubba/Schnitt defamation case, and his thoughts on what he went through with Stern back in the 1980s. HERE'S THAT INTERVIEW.

John DeBella is still on the air in Philadelphia, doing mornings on Greater Media's classic rock WMGK. Many years after the "Funeral in the Street," Howard Stern invited DeBella on to his show and apologized.

Stern Finally Gets in Hall of Fame

On Thursday, after rejecting him four times, Howard Stern was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame by the museum steering committee. It's been comical, especially to Stern, that for all he's done in his broadcasting career he hasn't been inducted before now. The ceremony will be held on November 10th at the museum in Chicago.

Stern, Rush, Beck, Seacrest Combine for $303 Million

Howard Stern made $95 million between May 1 2011 and May 1, 2012, according to the latest listing of the World's Most Powerful Celebrities in Forbes magazine. Forbes calculated the gross income of the celebrities pretax and before management, agent, and attorney fees were deducted. Rush Limbaugh is listed making $69 million. Glenn Beck took in $80 Million and Ryan Seacrest a respectable $59 Million. And, don't forget the 2012 Radio Ink listing of the 40 Most Powerful People in Radio will be released July 16. Stern Appeals Lawsuit Dismissal

Bloomberg reports that Howard Stern isn't quite ready to let his lawsuit against the company he works for die. Stern appealed a judge?s dismissal of a lawsuit against Sirius XM Radio Inc. over unpaid stock awards. Stern sued Sirius XM claiming the company did not pay him $300 million in stock awards he says they owed him. The suit was tossed April 16th. 

Bloomberg says the Stern side contends that the court ?misinterpreted the parties? contract and granted summary judgment before there was any discovery taken in the action. Reversal is warranted because, among other things, the parties? contract is clear on its face that plaintiffs are entitled to the relief they seek or is, at a minimum, ambiguous.?

Parents Television Council Uses Stern to Raise Funds

The PTC says time is running out and they are asking members for donations before midnight December 31st. "The challenges we will be facing in the coming year are already laid out before us: NBC recently announced they would be bringing radio shock jock Howard Stern aboard as a judge on America?s Got Talent ? one of the only family-friendly programs remaining on NBC. The PTC vehemently opposed this decision, and in 2012, we will be working to make sure every sponsor knows what kind of obscene, misogynistic hate-speech Howard Stern will be bringing to the table as a judge."

In its letter to members, the PTC goes on to say to be able to fight the Stern hire, they need help and getting a deduction on your 2011 taxes is a perfect reason to donate. "Please consider making a donation to support PTC programs in 2012.  Any gifts received before midnight on December 31st are fully deductible from your 2011 taxes." We are doing what no one else can or will do? and we?ve managed to accomplish all of this with minimal staff and financial resources.  Think of how much more we could accomplish with your help in 2012. A gift in any amount, $5, $50, $500 ? whatever you can afford -- will go a long way toward ensuring the PTC can continue to build on this year?s successes well into the New Year.

The PTC is a joke and a bad one at that. Just some guy with some letterhead and a few close-minded friends. They use the fear they manufacture about Stern to shake down businesses and take advantage of other close-minded individuals.

They should be called the Pathetic Thugs for Censorship.

Howard Stern Takes Job on America's Got Talent

Hoping to give his program a needed boost, Simon Cowell has turned to one of radio's most successful talents for help. In typical dramatic fashion, right before his vacation, Stern announced he has taken the job on NBC's reality show America's Got Talent. Stern is no TV novice having had several of his own television shows during his lengthy career.

The reality show, which originates from Los Angeles will relocate to New York to accommodate Stern's SiriusXM morning show, which he continues to broadcast from New York, although on a more limited basis. Stern says he'll start shooting in February and actually be traveling the country to do the audition rounds. Stern will replace CNN host Piers Morgan at the judges' table, alongside Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne.

About the announcement, NBC's president of alternative and late-night programming Paul Telegdy saud ?Howard Stern?s larger-than-life personality will bring a thrilling new dynamic to ?America's Got Talent? starting this summer. He?s a proven innovator and his track record in broadcasting is truly remarkable. Report: Stern May Become Reality Show Judge

You never know with Howard. This could be a publicity stunt in the end. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Stern is "in serious negotiations" with NBC to be the next judge on "America's Got Talent." Piers Morgan is leaving the program which leaves an empty seat at the table next to Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne. The Journal says Howard's asking price is $15 million a year and, the paper says, the program might even be moved from California to New York to accommodate Howard.
