Friday Emmis/St. Louis launched NOW96.3, a new CHR offering with a stable of local on-air talent. Curt Copeland takes mornings, Todd Newton (aka Rick Idol) midday, Christine Pawlak PMD, Nina Blanco in handling nights. NOW96.3 is running 60 minute music sweeps "every time the music starts."
Emmis notes that the new CHR is the first Top 40 to launch in St. Louis in nearly a decade. The new station will be supported with a "high profile cash promotion" along with TV, cable TV, billboards, online and social media advertising.
Emmis Radio's Sr. VP & GM John Beck comments on the launch, "Our classic hits station at 96.3 was underperforming causing us to look for new opportunities. We conducted extensive research, spoke to St. Louis radio listeners and found a need for a music station that plays all the current hits with fewer commercials and includes local personalities that St. Louisans can meet and relate to. We have done all of that with the new NOW96.3."
