Triton Now in Compliance With IAB Specs

10-31-14

Triton Digital  announced Thursday it was now in compliance with the IAB?s Digital Audio Ad Serving Template (DAAST) specification. DAAST is the IAB?s first technical solution aimed at addressing the fragmented audio advertising market. DAAST offers a standard method of tracking for advertisers. DAAST also addresses audio players that cannot typically track ads or identify listeners. Triton's SVP & GM Benjamin Masse says, ?We participated in a working group with the IAB to develop the DAAST specification and ensure that Triton?s advertising platform, Tap, is fully capable of supporting DAAST compliant players. This is extremely important because it adds liquidity to the marketplace, which will lead to an increase in quality inventory and improved control and effectiveness for advertisers.?

Not so High on Triton

3-6-14
Bressler also compared Nielsen's PPM technology to Triton's measurement technology, which is important now that so much audio listening is moving online, and Nielsen edges closer to having a measurement system for radio that includes both online and over-the-air. Of course Pandora relies quite a bit on Triton for measurement and most listening done on iHeartRadio, according to the Infinite Dial study, is to local radio stations, which will be measured by Nielsen. Bressler has not been shy about challenging Pandora's listening numbers.

Bressler compared the PPM technology used by radio to the Triton technology and he's not impressed with the ladder. About Triton, Bressler said, "As long as the device is on, whether you are in the room or not, that counts. That would be counted as listening even though it's not listening. The more that comes out about a gold standard for measurement, the better its going to be."

Cumulus Chooses Triton For All 530 Radio Stations

5-11-2012

Over the next 4-6 weeks, Cumulus will be transferring all of its radio station websites to the Triton Digital platform to take advantage of the suite of services Triton has to offer and to move the process along to get the Cumulus stations on iHeartRadio. Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey tells Radio Ink a standard platform was needed for the 530 plus radio stations in the Cumulus stable before they could all be launched on iHeart which is why there's been a delay in getting them on the Clear Channel app. The partnership between Clear Channel and Cumulus was announced last year. Dickey says Triton was chosen because it was the most efficient and economical solution for Cumulus and will include the Stream The World platform for streaming along with measurement, e-mail, loyalty and contesting tools. "Triton gave us maximum flexibility and the technology they have was the best solution for us." The Cumulus stations should be up and running on the iHeartRadio app in about 45 to 60 days.

Triton To Deliver AQH Online Metrics. Why?

5-10-2012

Triton Digital is trying to speak the language buyers who use radio understand. Customers subscribing to the new local reports feature inside of its webcast metrics product will now receive Average Quarter-Hour Rating  by market ? the same metrics typically used when measuring terrestrial radio stations. Triton Media Group COO Mike Agovino says, "this will allow subscribers the flexibility to combine their offline and online audience into a credible total audience number while maintaining the ability to position the attributes of either channel independently. We spoke with Agovino Thursday about the new product.

Why AQH ratings?
MA: We have been speaking with agencies and other folks on the demand-side over the past few months. The good news is that they all expressed that the space is hitting stride. The one thing they cited as a bit of barrier is 'Metric Confusion.' For people accustomed to buying audio-based advertising on the basis of AQH, evaluating internet audio space by the same standard makes things simpler. This news is a direct result of agency requests. They've pushed hard for clarity and we think this provides it.

Is this an additional charge for stations that use Triton?
MA:
No. We will be incorporating the AQH metric into customers' standard dashboard over time. Deeper metrics and kinds of analysis will also be available as a part of our "Local Reports" offering inside of Webcast Metrics.

How often will they be distributed to stations?
MA: AQH will live inside of the consoles of clients who wish to see their data presented that way.

How would you advise radio salespeople to pitch this?
MA:
I would say that relative merit of different properties is now easier to evaluate based on shared measurement standards. Now, Webcast Metrics is still census-based, but...

Do you believe this will increase digital revenue for radio?
MA: Any time you lower barriers to entry sales increase. To an extent this normalizes things, levels the playing field so that more people will find it safe to go in the water.

What's it going to take to get publicized weekly online ratings in every (or at least the top ten) markets? MA: It takes our clients? willingness to share information publicly at a station-level. We're making progress and hope to have something soon.

Any chance Arbitron buys Triton Digital?
MA: I left my crystal ball at home, but we're moving ahead with laser focus on our customers and our roadmap to make sure their content finds its audience wherever, whenever, however their audience wants to consume it.

Triton Updates Advertising Platform

Triton Digital has released its updated Advertising Platform, enabling publishers to forecast a mobile-only audience, deliver targeted pre-roll video or targeted in-stream audio with or without synched banners, and access post-campaign results in real-time.

Triton Digital Streaming COO Dominick Mialno says, ?Mobile campaigns continue to be a priority for advertisers as their customers consume more and more content on-the-go. Publishers are excited to take advantage of this expanding revenue stream, and we?re making it easier for them to manage and measure their ads? effectiveness in order to create agile campaigns that deliver the right messages to the right audiences.?

Here are the enhanced features Triton says it now offers in the new platform:
- Advanced Targeting and Forecasting ? Extended targeting capabilities for pre-roll and in-stream ads, enabling advertisers to target audiences by mobile devices, by country, or across any audience segment by any pre-specified custom targeting criteria. It also features improved inventory availability forecasting based on selected targeting criteria.
- Advertiser Creative Libraries ? The Creative Library establishes a unique repository of creative materials for each advertiser and enables them to manage creative content without having to immediately create or assign it to a spot. This also eliminates the need to re-upload the same creative for each individual spot.

Triton Digital Unveils New Features

Triton Digital has announced a number of enhancements to its applications and services portfolio. The new features include user-generated content, enhanced social media integration, mobile marketing and loyalty club registration and QR code registration and contesting. Clear Channel Disgital Sales Manager Patrick Diab is already bragging about the new features. ?Using Triton?s QR code contesting feature allows us to extend our contesting capabilities online and drive promotional awareness without using man hours on the streets. It allows us to dip our toes in the smartphone pool of users who appreciate innovative ways to communicate with their favorite radio stations.?

The new features include:
UGC Contesting
? Triton?s new Digital Ivy contesting platform is centered on user-generated content (UGC) contesting. Digital Ivy will simplify deployment of UGC contests that can simultaneously be published as microsites (enabling stations to build free-standing contests for advertisers), embedded on a station?s site and in its Facebook application. Digital Ivy will initially be released as part of Triton's StickyFish platform and then as a standalone contesting service for any client.

Enhanced Social Media Integration ? New consumer login and integrated social publishing functionality makes it easier for consumers to enroll in the stations loyalty programs using their existing Facebook credentials and easier for FLEX clients to simultaneously publish content to their websites and popular social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and more.  In addition, it is now easier for stations to track how many listeners are engaged with their programs and social media.

Mobile Marketing and Loyalty Club Registration ? There are over four billion mobile phones in use today, making mobile registration key to a successful loyalty campaign. Triton now enables listeners to register for their favorite station?s loyalty club from any web enabled phone, such as iPhone and Droid devices.  Listeners can be recruited to the mobile registration via street team promotions and a powerful new addition to Triton's SMS texting platform (MXM).

Gamification ? Triton?s Social Engagement Engine (SEE) enables stations to drive increased engagement by allowing listeners to ?level-up? by performing client-defined actions that occur anywhere across their digital enterprise (including website and mobile applications).  As listeners level-up and increase their status, they unlock awards that can be published to Facebook and used to access gated content, enter into exclusive contests and much more.   Better yet, listeners are ranked in a leaderboard widget which creates a social competition to achieve the highest status and broadest access and rewards. Triton's SEE has already been enabled for all StickyFish clients and will soon be available to non-StickyFish clients to enable similar functionality on any website as an easy-to-use set of widgets and APIs.

QR Code Registration and Contesting ? With the new ?Scan and Win? module in StickyFish (Triton's points-based loyalty program), broadcasters can use QR codes to create unique and exciting mobile promotions and contests. Whether creating a digital scavenger hunt for points or simply incorporating a promotion with retail signage, radio stations can grow audiences by leveraging QR code technology.
