AUDIO)After 16 Years Entercom Releases Greg Kihn

9-14-2012

A press release sent to Radio Ink from the Greg Kihn camp says the morning man has been let go by Entercom's KFOX-FM in San Francisco. Kihn just celebrated his 16th Anniversary with KFOX FM, which is believed to be the longest reigning radio industry tenure for a morning man with a single station west of the Mississippi.

Entercom's Dwight Walker tells Radio Ink, "We salute Greg on his 16 years of contributions to KFOX and the community and wish him only the best. The KFOX Morning Show will be going in a different direction and we are very excited about that direction. Stay tuned next week."

Listen to our interview with Kihn HERE.

Kihn said, ?I am unemployed, along with a large percentage of my fellow Americans, but I am an optimist. I believe for every door that closes others open. Surely, another broadcast studio door will open and I?ll be back on the air soon doing what I love to do most; entertaining my loyal fans.?

While his departure is classy, the statement "Kihn just celebrated his 16th Anniversary with KFOX FM, which is believed to be the longest reigning radio industry tenure for a morning man with a single station west of the Mississippi" is flat out wrong. Kim Vestal did mornings at KARA, also in San Jose, as was KFOX, for more than 20+ years.

What a pro handling his departure with dignity and class! Rare breed these days ... he'll back on the air in no time.
