kinosianmikePPM Analysis: Alternative Rock.  RadioInfo managing editor Mike Kinosian presents the first of three format analyses based on data from Nielsen Audio's February PPM survey.  The first rock-based format up is alternative.  There are only two PPM markets with competing alternative outlets and in both Los Angeles and San Diego, the stations are locked in a tight (6+) battle.  KROQ tops KYSR in LA 3.1% to 2.9%, and in San Diego, KBZT bests XTRA 2.2% to 2.1%.  The top three alternative stations from a market rank standpoint are KTCL, Denver and KPNT, St. Louis which both rank #4 in their markets (6+), and WOLT, Indianapolis, which ranks #6.  See more in Mike Kinosian's report here.
RadioInfo Career Moves.  At Portland, Maine's country WTHT "99.9 The Wolf," Chris Clare is the new program director.  Binnie Media announces Stan Bennett remains as operations manager for the station group, but cedes his WTHT PD duties to Clare, who most recently was music director and afternoon personality at ADX Communications' country WYCT, Pensacola "Cat Country 98.7."…..Entercom announces Bryan Fox is named promotions director for the company's San Francisco station group, effective April 4…..Austin radio personality J.B. Hager announces he's parted ways – amicably – with Austin Radio Network's classic hits K287FG "Classic 105.3 Austin" where he was hosting the morning drive show…..At the iHeartMedia Youngstown, Ohio station group, Keith Kennedy is named senior vice president of programming, taking over for Steve Granato, who exits the cluster.  Kennedy adds these duties to his SVP of programming responsibilities for the Akron-Canton market.  Also, he'll serve as program director for CHR WAKZ, Youngstown "95.9 Kiss FM."
