Peter Doyle is the Audio Division Chief from the Media Bureau of the Federal Communications Commission. Earlier this week he spoke to broadcasters about two issues. One of those issues they've been dealing with for quite some time, converting to digital. And, the other is brand new, a requirement that stations prove to the commission that advertiser contracts have a non-discrimination disclaimer. The FCC has a much more fancy and legal way of describing that requirement, however, that's what it is. |

As CBS President Dan Mason said earlier this week, it wasn't too long ago that CBS didn't stream a song, a game or a talk show over the Internet. Now, the man that Les Moonves is just so darn proud of, is speaking at Internet conferences and cheering on a new CBS Internet strategy. A cutting edge app that CBS has just released is a combination of local sports, social marketing and, of course, streaming, which is no longer taboo inside the walls of CBS radio (They even post streaming schedules now). |

29 year old Ernesto Garcia and 32 year old Paul Aliss were working for WASK in Indiana, building a tower, when they fell 340 feet to their deaths. Pieces of the tower fell as the men were installing a segment of the planned 500-foot tower. Newspaper reports say both men were wearing safety harnesses when they fell, but there was a malfunction with a parallel support device attached to the tower but not planted in the ground. Autopsies are planned for Thursday. The tower was being built for WASK, which had to relocate the tower because of the construction of the Hoosier Heartland Highway which is being built to ease traffic. |

The Nashville Tennessee tower for the legendary WSM has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. WSM has broadcast the Grand Ole Opry since the 1930s. The 808-foot tower was built in 1932. WSM started carrying the Grand Ole Opry show in 1925 and the addition of the big tower brought it to much of the South and Midwest. The live show helped popularize country music and spread it beyond the South, aiding the careers of Hank Williams Sr., Roy Acuff, Loretta Lynn and others. The tower now sits on a 30-acre tract visible from Interstate 65 south of Nashville. |
