The only question that remains now is whether Clear Channel will give in to the demands of the Hmong community and fire a member of the "Dave Ryan in the Morning Show" team. Members of the local Hmong community say a song that aired on KDWB was offensive and racist and they want sidekick Steve-O, who wrote the song, to be fired. So far, Clear Channel has not fired anyone. This past Friday, members of the Hmong community protested outside the radio station to keep the pressure on. |

After seeing a presentation by Marketron at the NAB convention in Las Vegas last week, the new Mediascape software may be something all broadcasters want to take a look at. We were especially impressed with how the software integrates a texting program, which radio stations can use to run advertiser focused campaigns and build databases. Mediascape is an open platform available today at no additional cost to Marketron customers. |

The "Friends of KTRU" filed a petition hoping to kill the deal but the commission didn't buy the argument that the sale was not in the public interest. In the order, the FCC, said the sale was ""consistent with the public interest, convenience and necessity." The sale was for $9.5 million which Rice University plans to use to improve the quality of life on campus. They are building a new food service facility and some of the money will be used for that. The University of Houston will change the format to classical and offer fine-arts programming. |
