Vision Latina's KBPO in Port Neches, TX receives the big fine for failing to maintain a main studio with a meaningful staff and management presence; and failing to maintain a complete public file. The incidents date back to December of 2010 when an FCC agent went to the station several times and each time the station was locked and there was no sign of any employees. About a week later an employee told the inspector his boss was in Mexico and would be back in a week. The employee had no idea where to find the public file.
A week later the agent returned again only to be told the owner would now not be back from Mexico for another month. This time the employees refused to show the agent the public file. And again no luck finding a current public file. So, repeated offenses nets the station a hefty $25,000 fine that they have 30 days to respond to.
