Cox Deals Get FCC Ok to Close

4-25-13

The FCC has approved the two deals worth over $100 million that Cox made with SummitMedia and Connoisseur. CMG is selling its stations in Southern Connecticut to Connoisseur Media, while the CMG stations in Birmingham; Greenville, SC; Hawaii; Louisville; and Richmond are being purchased by SummitMedia.

According to previously filed FCC documents SummitMedia (David Dubose and Carl Parmer) are paying $66.25 million for 23 stations (and contract rights to WALJ-FM Birmingham) in five markets: Birmingham, Hawaii, Louisville, Greenville (S.C.), and Richmond. And, Jeff Warshaw's Connoisseur Media is paying $40 million for three Southern Connecticut stations and contract rights to WYBC-FM. The stations were put on the market last July as part of a CMG "broadcast realignment."
