Gary Spurgeon has been promoted to vice president, general manager of Houston, and will maintain his role as general manager of Dallas for Radio One. He replaces the exiting Doug Abernathy. Tami Honesty will expand her role in Dallas to DOS/station manager and will oversee the day-to-day operations under Spurgeon's leadership. The move will involve Spurgeon's relocation to Houston.
Spurgeon is a 35-year radio broadcast veteran with general manager and regional vice president roles for Renda Broadcasting, Cox Radio, Regent Communication, GulfStar, CAPSTAR Radio, AM/FM, and others. He was Radio Ink's 2014 Manager of The Year, 2005 Medium Market General Manager of the Year, and twice General Manager of the Year.
