FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski appointed Sherman Kizart to serve on its re-chartered Federal Advisory Committee on Diversity in the Digital Age. This committee provides recommendations to the Commission regarding policies and practices that will further enhance diversity in the industries the FCC regulates. Kizat said ?I'm humbled and equally excited about my appointment to serve our country. The Diversity Committee continues to do very important work.?
Genachowski sai ?I look forward to working with Kizart in furthering the interests of diversity in the communications industry, a mission that is critical to the FCC and to the American people.? In particular, the Diversity Committee will continue to focus on lowering barriers to entry for historically disadvantaged men and women, exploring ways to ensure universal access to and adoption of broadband, ensuring the widest possible dissemination of information from diverse media sources, and creating an environment that enables employment of a diverse workforce in the media, telecommunications and related fields.
