Usher Drops New R&B Jam, 'Climax': Listen

by Jason Lipshutz, N.Y.  |   February 14, 2012 7:00 EST

Here's a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day: Usher has released "Climax," a new soul track that its producer, Diplo, has called "Seriously the best record I've been part of" on Twitter. He might not be exaggerating.

Written by Diplo, Redd Stylez and Ariel Rechtshaid, "Climax" finds Mr. Raymond cruising in Falsetto Mode and reminding the world that he is capable of making pristinely arranged slow jams like "Nice and Slow" and "Burn." "Where are you now, when I need you around?" Usher demands over Diplo's warm bed of synthesizers before shifting back into the unflappable chorus.

"I'm pretty sure in 9 months there are gonna be a lot of new babies that this song is responsible for," Diplo posted on Twitter on Tuesday (Feb. 14). Usher's Twitter message was simple enough: "Happy Valentine's Day to all!!"

The last time Usher was part of a new single was "Without You," a Hot 100 hit off David Guetta's "Nothing But the Beat." Diplo, meanwhile, was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 2012 Grammys for Chris Brown's "Look At Me Now."
