Jose Valle Makes Biggest Jump on Top 40 List

7-17-2012

In only his second year on Radio Ink's 40 Most Powerful People in Radio list, Univision Radio President Jose Valle enters the top ten at number 7, jumping 12 spots from number 19. The veteran radio executive and former Univision Los Angeles manager has brought an engaging leadership style since taking charge of the radio division. Univision owns 69 radio stations in 20 top Hispanic markets including Puerto Rico. Here's what Valle had to say in our Power issue about moving the radio needle forward.

"The best thing we can do to move forward is to protect our core business by overdelivering on expectations to both listeners and advertisers. AM/FM, as our listeners will always refer to us, needs to continue to be their first choice for music and entertainment. As such, Univision Radio has made significant investments in music research on listener behavior, driving changes to our on-air product on multiple levels."

Valle says, about his philosophy, "we hire and empower good people who live our company values and understand our listeners, are "ninja good" at what they do, and super-competetive. And if that isn't enough we remind them that we play music and throw parties for a living. If that doesn't motivate you, I don't know what will."
