Setback For Kasem's Kids

10-15-13

On Tuesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Roy Paul said he did not see any urgent need for a conservatorship for Casey Kasem after a court-appointed attorney told him the former host of American Top 40 is receiving adequate care. Kasem has Parkinson's disease. Kasem's daughter Julie has filed a petition for a temporary conservatorship. She alleges that Kasem's wife Jean was blocking Kasem's kids from seeing him.

According to USA Today, Paul did not dismiss the case. He requested more information about Kasem's medical care. Paul appointed an independent doctor to review Kasem's medical records and to meet with him and report back to the court before a Nov. 19 court hearing, according to the paper. Attorneys for Julie Kasem supported a delay in the case for the medical evaluation and further investigation of the radio host's estate planning documents.
