Galaxy Creates Sports Marketing Division

10-15-13

Galaxy Communications is launching a new sports marketing division. President and CEO Ed Levine (pictured) says the new group will focus on the sports franchises that Galaxy is a flagship for or has an affiliate relationship with, in Syracuse and Utica. Those teams are Syracuse University football, basketball, and lacrosse, as well as the Utica Comets, Syracuse Crunch, Utica College, the Buffalo Bills, and the New York Giants.

To oversee this new initiative, Galaxy Sports Marketing has hired Ken Elander as General Manager. Elander has held high-ranking positions at Time Warner Cable, Driver?s Village, and WTVH. Galaxy owns 14 radio stations in the Syracuse and Utica markets, and also has a division called Galaxy Events.
