Radio World's Scott Fybush writes about how radio stations are starting to use UAV or drone technology. WTOP/Washington, D.C. is looking at drones because it looks at itself as "more of a multiplatform news organization instead of just a radio station," according to WTOP's Brian Oliger. KFI/Los Angeles has purchased drones for each of its field reporters. WXOS/St. Louis has purchased drones for use in sports coverage. KXL/Portland is just waiting for its drone provider to obtain FAA approval so that station can use drones as part of their news coverage. Fybush's piece can be read here.
