Journal Reports Q4 Radio Revenue Increased 6.2%.

Journal reported that revenue from its 33 radio stations increased 6.2% to $18.9 million from $17.8 million. Radio political and issue advertising revenue was $700K compared to $100K a year earlier. Operating earnings from radio stations were $3.2 million compared to $4.6 million.

Sirius/XM Reports Q4 $81.4 Million Net Loss

Sirius XM Radio Inc reported a net loss for the fourth quarter, as its operating expenses rose and it incurred the costs of paying off debt early. The satellite radio company's reported a net loss on Tuesday of $81.4 million or 2 cents per share, versus a profit of $11.8 million or nil per share a year earlier. Revenue for the quarter was $735.9 million, up from $676.2 million a year before. It ended the quarter with 20.2 million subscribers, up from 18.8 million a year earlier.

Hired at 33, off the selling streets of North Carolina, I spent four years as editor of Radio Ink until the opportunity to run a cluster of Radio stations came along. I only left Radio Ink because I knew I had to be a General Manager at least once before I died.
