11-15-12

AM570 FOX Sports Los Angeles raised more than $135,000 during the 5th annual ?Help A Hero? Radiothon, setting a station record during the live seven-hour, commercial-free broadcast. A few of the celebrities in attendance had surprises for listeners, including a call-in from UFC President Dana White, who offered a $5,000 donation; a special  $10,000 check presentation from Loan Mart with legendary rocker Eddie Money, followed by a matching donation from an anonymous listener; and an impromptu call-out for listeners to purchase a dinner with Dodgers legend Tommy Lasorda, which resulted in several additional donations.

The event was hosted by the station?s on-air personalities, including Steve Hartman, Vic ?The Brick? Jacobs, Petros Papadakis and Rob Dibble, along with notable celebrity guests who were interviewed on-air and helped take caller donations throughout the day. The radiothon also included an online auction featuring exciting experiences and sports memorabilia. All proceeds will benefit the Paralyzed Veterans of America, an organization dedicated to providing veterans with rehabilitation, access to medical services, job training and continuing research to find a cure for paralysis.
