...But It's Not The Only Pirate Infested City

5-15-14

WSOU-FM (Seton Hall University) General Manager Mark Maben checks in with Radio Ink to let us know that there are plenty of pirates operating in and around the New York/New Jersey area. WSOU is home to the ?Seton Hall Pirate Radio? (Seton Hall University?s athletic teams are The Pirates). Maben jokes, "I even once got a call from someone who wanted to start a pirate station and thought we could help." Maben says, in noncommercial band, alone in Brooklyn/Queens, there are active pirates on 88.5, 88.7, 88.9, 89.3, 89.7,  90.1,  90.9,  91.7, 91.9. And in Newark Maben says pirates pop up all the time. WFUV (http://wfuv.org/audio/receptionform), WBGO (http://www.wbgo.org/info/piracy) even have pages on their websites dedicated to dealing with interference caused by pirates.
