NABShow16Analysis: NAB Show – Day 1.  Radio consultant Holland Cooke is reporting from the 2016 NAB Show for RadioInfo.  From day one of the broadcasting mega-confab in Las Vegas, Cooke reports on the radio-centric panels he attended.  NAB CEO Gordon Smith declared in his opening keynote, "No other media industry is as dedicated to supporting our local communities – not Google, not Apple, not Pandora, not cable or satellite."  That sentiment ran through a number of panels during which operators told attendees that in radio's current era, stations have to be marketing experts for their clients and information and entertainment experts for their local communities.  For more about how operators are encouraging creativity in sales and programming, read Holland Cooke's report here.
Alan Colmes Discusses Radio, Politics and the Human Consciousness Movement in Latest Episode of PodcastOne's 'Up Close and Far Out with Michael Harrison.'  Although he has developed a significant national following among news/talk radio listeners and cable TV viewers as a political talker for his longstanding work as a rare progressive voice on Fox News Radio and Fox News Channel, Alan Colmes has an "experimental" broadcasting hobby/career developing that reflect his lifelong interest in what he describes as the human consciousness movement.  For more than a year, Colmes has hosted an on-demand radio show titled, "Healed Planet," that has served as one of the most popular staples on the TALKERScolmesalan magazine talk radio workshop, TalkersRadio.  The interview/commentary program reflects Colmes' personal interest in parapsychology, cosmic consciousness, and the boundaries of science that include quantum physics and the search for extra-terrestrial life.  Colmes joins Michael Harrison in this week's installment of the hit PodcastOne program for media freaks, "Up Close and Far Out."  The longtime friends engage in an extensive dialogue that covers the scope of modern media theory including podcasting, politics, and what both believe is the underdeveloped genre of metaphysical subject matter as a potential talk radio staple going forward.  To listen to the entire conversation, please click here or click on the "Up Close and Far Out" player box located in the right-hand column on every page of Talkers.com and RadioInfo.com.
