Prince Programming Dominates Airwaves

princeks95billboardPrince Programming Dominates Airwaves; Hubbard's 'KS95' Minneapolis Launches Billboards Tribute.  Minutes after the news of the untimely death of pop music legend Prince broke, radio stations around the country began playing his music and discussing his art and life.  Nowhere was that more evident than in Prince's hometown of Minneapolis-St. Paul where Hubbard Radio hot AC KSTP-FM "KS95" began playing Prince music non-stop from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm yesterday.  At the same time, the company launched a series of tribute billboards that appeared throughout the market – including the one seen above.  Hubbard Minneapolis-St. Paul VP and market manager Dan Seeman tells RadioInfo his station is promoting "Purple For Prince Day" today (4/22) in which it is "encouraging everyone in the Twin Cities to wear purple and share your photos at #purpleforprince."  The billboards will stay up through today.
Other Prince Programming Includes… In addition to making music and archival audio available to its affiliates, ABC Radio presented an "Instant Special" titled "Prince – Death of a Legend" last night at 7:00 pm ET" anchored by ABC News correspondent Aaron Katersky with ABC Radio entertainment reporter Andrea Dresdale, Prince biographer Alan Light and "the very latest worldwide reaction to Prince's death."…..Westwood One is offering archival audio to stations from a press conference Prince held during his "Musicology" tour.  The presser took place on February 24, 2004 and featured an interview with the artist and a Q&A with the audience…..SiriusXM has created Prince tribute programming and is featuring that on several of its channels.  It is also presenting a Prince Tribute Channel.
