Tampa Bay?s Hot 101.5 (WPOI-FM) morning host Jayde Donovan is throwing a party Saturday for kids with cancer. For the second year in a row, Jayde awarded an iPad each weekday in May to a child battling cancer. Her mission was to honor the memory of her friend Brittany, who passed away in 2010. The children and their families will be treated to lunch from Chick-fil-A and Blue Bell Ice Cream and given a tour of WPOI. Jayde will present each child their very own iPad, and there will be Apple Geniuses to demonstrate how they work.
"Kids want to be outside playing with their friends, not in the hospital for weeks on end,? Jayde said. ?Cancer takes away their freedom and can make a child feel lonely and isolated. The gift of an iPad means reconnecting these kids to a world they temporarily can't be a part of. I've seen firsthand how this one small gesture can make a huge impact in a child's life. Suddenly they're in touch with friends and family, using FaceTime with their teachers, and they're smiling again."
